Really bad news...WTF NI,people bought your stuff and now you're saying they won't be able to use it (well,"authorize it") anymore!

    It's really outrageous.

If you prevent the use of these plugins, offer the update for free at least.

I think this kind of crap, from any company, provides perfect moral justification for piracy.
'Buy' a legit product from NI and wait to get punished for it?
I will now feel very happy about the next cracked NI release
and even happier about re-installing these older NI products, in their cracked versions, on new machines.

So this means that it's totally respectable, and even advised, to use cracked NI Products instead of legit. And I actually bought a few of their products. Will certainly need to stop with that. $25 E-Voucher will never be fun again. However, every black Friday I can own all NI Products instead of just a few, free and forever without guilt. Mmm...

This is why I've been using warez stuff for years, DRM is all about control, they care zero bit about "copyright" they use it as excuse, hopefully NI get sued into the grave.

Now I'm pretty happy that I saved almost all of these products (cracked) on my archive disk
and after that message it kind of feels ok that I never paid a penny for them even if I thought
    about doing it.

It also shows me that I probably shouln't consider buying any other NI product because who knows,
maybe it won't run anymore somewhen in future.

Still using Pro-53, Absynth 2 & 3, FM7 and Electric Piano here and there and it would be
a real pity if I couldn't open my old projects anymore, where I used some of these Plugs.
Don't they think about that incidence?

BUT if they would consider of making a legacy package for lets say 30$ instead,
I'd probably change my position and take it... and also think about buying other products as well.

"Most of the products have a newer version with the same or enhanced functionality, either released by NI or one of our partners. Please check out our product pages, or ask the manufacturer of the original third-party library for a newer version or alternative libraries."

Everything mentioned in the list (at least for N.I products) are either old or have a new version.
So, I guess nobody above checked the product pages [or simply don't understand the statement by N.I?]

Read and understand it but don´t like the forcing to a paid updated .
And many think so to .
It´s a big differ if a product is 10 Years (worst case 32 Bit ) (Which I can totally understand)
Against a 1-2 Year old one.

Plain and simple, its the companies decision to do what they want with their own IP, and they don't have to keep a service running indefinitely if they dont want to. You're not guaranteed anything, best read those license agreements a little more closely before you blindly click Accept next time. People really think they're going to keep the authorization for Absynth 2 and Pro 53 going? Those plugins are close to 20 years old, time to move on already. We might as well start screaming at Microsoft for killing DOS 6.0 or Nintendo for wiping out the SNES.

There's only a handful of us here that actually own any of this and might actually have a legit complaint to begin with. Im gonna go yell at Brian Clevinger now because my Absynth 1 disc doesn't work anymore!

Come on bro! But that's the business of DAW/Plugins companies for the longest I can remember. Somehow, someway, a company/developer will move from "legacy" products. What N.I. just did is nothing new or unexpected at any time from a developer. We can go down a growing list of companies that have killed/abandoned/stop developing a version or the entire software altogether. A lot of those changes also depend on many other factors like the operating system not supporting their old codes/New technology can't be used with their old codes, etc...
Sometimes those decisions do carry backlash and uproar from the customer base. However, as a whole, that same customer base (or at least most of it) usually comes to grip with the fact that they also have to move on to the newer version. AND yes, it is also to force people to upgrade to get some more money. I know, I know... not the most popular thing to do but business is business! :( Come to think about it, that subset of users who are still on those ancient versions of plugins from the Komplete package gotta be a small amount, it's gotta be!

I certainly can't talk for others as each person have different configuration and software/plugins sets. However, for me, I don't see the problem at all. It's not that they suddenly killing Massive or Kontakt's latest versions.

I know it is not my damn business but I mean, Jesus, why someone is still on Battery 2 or worst, the original Battery?:dunno::rofl:

Anyway, may you guys find a workaround!

This is why I certainly *might* (not saying I do) have a cracked version around of everything I own legit as well, 'cause you never know. That and maybe I'd rather use a key gen than f**k around with certain companies' online registration for 5 damn hours.

In that meaning, same applies for old hardware synthesizers and other old stuff. Someone could think
you're one of those guys who're throwing away still nicely working gears just because they're outdated.

For me it's important to have working copies of all plugins I ever used because I still use some of my
up to 18 years old projects for creating new music based on them. Back in the time I had the best ideas
for great harmonics and melodies and sometimes one of those projects just contain a few elements to work
with but I still love them and I'm able to build completely new tracks out of them with the knowledge I gained
    over the years.

It's like having my own built treasure chest. But without some particular plugins it just contains broken treasures.
That's why I still want my stuff to work - also the few plugins I really paid money for.

Just think about an old car. You owned it, you started to love it and then the manufacturer forces
it to stop working because he got new cars to sell.

Ps.: In some of my old projects only the old versions of the plugins work correctly. So I don't give a damn
on new features in the updated versions because they give me nothing that works for me in such case.

I made this statement the other day about fxpansion Geist and Geist 2. I absolutely like Geist over 2. Period. Why should I be forced to upgrade if it's a different product?

Like r4e said, newer car is a different car. We're not even talking about support here. They're saying you can't activate and use it. In comparison it's like saying you moved, welp, that's a new address, you're not allowed to use that car anymore.

    Nope. Zero fucks given.

It's wrong. If you can no longer open a product, should be open and free without support. Can't ban something like that, how many of us remix our own stuff?

I have songs easily 20 years old. (I've future proofed them) but due to companies going bankrupt... Not this BS.

It's all fine man! I also have certain software I prefer older versions too; I believe a lot of us DO. However, the keyword here is "prefer". No software company I know is bound indefinitely to our preferences. NONE! So, we can all keep what we want to keep. However, to be up in arms when the company moves on from it whether they have a viable reason (or not), I'm not sure we have much ground to stand on this one.

@dadarkman I feel you. You're not wrong. I still have Spektral Delay in almost all my FX chains.
    And that shit is 32-bit.

Capitalist nature has things being regurgitated in sleeker, prettier forms when we we could do just fine with what already is.
