Was the mix ok, if so how about the sound quality ?

 

I think the bass synth was too overbearing and sounded in a completely different place than the rest of mix. Other than that, it sounded great.

Yeah, the bass is a bit overpowering and the BD is a bit muffeled. Other than that, nice.
Did you lower the tempo?

Vocals are pushed back too far into the mix. There's a very noticeable edit @ 2.27, the different audio qualities are very noticeable. The bass on the old-school middle 8 destroys the guitar solo. Pull back the bass and your new additions more into the mix and you'll get a better 'mix' meld. Overall the creativity is nice but to answer your original question, your additions don't match the audio quality of the record. Keep trying, you could be on to something. I wish someone would the make The Carpenters songs sound more up-to-date, they're so thin in production and the music is such a mild accompaniment to Karen's fantastic voice that there definitely are opportunities to probably quite easily make those songs sound cool today.

This TOO is valuable info. Thank you. I have read it through a couple of times. As I redo the mix I will take this on board, and as for the Carpenters, I will have a go at one of theirs afterwards..
