Considering the popularity of Behringer Neutron, I have decided to create this thread for current and potential users. We can share tips, mods, and talk about everything and anything related to this fabulous synth.

 

How to properly perform a factory reset and conduct a pot calibration:

Factory Reset
Pressing the "OSC SYNC", "PARAPHONIC" & "KEY TRK" buttons, power on the Neutron. Release buttons “OSC SYNC” + “PARAPHONIC” + “KEY TRK”, The 5x LFO LEDs should display a pulsating pattern.

Pot calibration
While the LFO Shape LEDs are pulsating, do the follwing

• OSC1 SHAPE pot fully to LEFT
• OSC2 SHAPE pot fully to LEFT RIGHT (this was wrong in the Behringer's instructions)
• LFO SHAPE pot fully to RIGHT
• LFO RATE pot fully to RIGHT
• PORTA TIME pot fully to RIGHT

When all of the above has been done, press VCF “MODE” + LFO “KEY SYNC” simultaneously.
Neutron will restart.

Shiiiit I went to Behringer yesterday and could not find it. I thought they had taken it out. Asked a couple of members here for it by PM. I now realize that on each product's page they only keep the latest. Thanks for pointing it out. Well here's mine. About to be joined by a black TD-3, and after I've checked out the 2600 at Superbooth, I supect one of these as well although not sure where I'll put it yet.

 

you need to add fricken lasers.

 

The Deepmind 12 is a beast and you can get a used one in excellent condition for less than $600. I paid less than $200 for mine.

I'm interested in whatever mods you're doing. The sync mod is the only one I've heard of so far.
You bought 2 Neutrons? Smart choice, a decent oscillator module can cost more. The patching options are exponential.
One of my favorite patches is using stackable patchcords to run the sample and hold into both oscillator and LFO shapes (3 cords) and have the waveforms change. It's quite a light show and I can't wait to clock sequences into the equation.

 

2 Neutrons, 2 Model D, 2 RD-8s. You can buy them so cheap used that it is a no brainer. I try to get 2 of everything in order to modify one of them. Model D can be bought for less than $200 and The Neutron for around $220-240. The RD-8 can be have for around $300 used. i only paid retail for the RD-8s. The Crave you can get for $200. If you search you can have a set up of Model D,Crave, Neutron, RD-8 and Deepmind 12 for around $1500.

 

@The Pirate Have been considering that as well but the B&W LCD puts me off a bit (stupid I know) But I’m also expecting Berhinger to start doing the famous polys soon. My first synth was a brand new Juno 6 and I sold it for a DX 7 in 1980, if Berhinger did one it would rapidly climb my most wanted list, but I only have so much room to put it all in.

There is going to be no cloned Juno 6. At least not from Behringer. Why? Because the Deepmind 12 and Deepmind 6 are already available. While not an exact clone of the 106, both are excellent and affordable alternatives, specially the Deepmind 12.

tell me about it. Everyday i look at this beauty and I can't believe it. When i first posted it months ago someone PM'd telling me it was impossible. So I posted the ad. Here it is, again.


I thought it was going to be a "sick" synth but it works perfectly well. I even got the owner to reduce the price! Yes! i am a cheap bztrd.

 

I am thinking about my next synth,and I am looking the MS-20 mini.But the Neutron is very interesting too,it has good oscillators and filters,a delay,it sounds cool to me and it's semi modular like the MS-20 mini.And the Neutron is less expensive.

What do you think about these 2 synths,@The Pirate or any member ? Which one would you choose between the two ?
Please don't talk me about the K-2,I prefer the Korg MS20 mini's sound.

I bought the Neutron as the first piece of a modular synth system I intend to build. The size of my living room wall.
I think of the MS20 more as a standalone instrument although both are patchable.
Sounds like you're more for the Korg. Unless you're looking at building a wall, too
