Im having some issues using my RME BF with Cubase 9.5.

Im having a lot peaks and noise with serten instruments - can anyone recomment some tweaks in Cubase and RME software that can deal with it?

there are a LOT of sync issues (clicks, crackles) with WIn.10 and RME drivers, just look at RME forum.
Recommendation is to use the Steinberg's own interface. Works ALOT better/smoother - less issues and better performance

For Cubase: if it's deactivated, activate the Steinberg Power Scheme under Studio Setup => VST Audio System. It will turn off Speed Stepping of the CPU. That's the culprit most of the time. Furthermore, Boost Audio Priority and check if Multi Processing is active.

These are just basic tweaks for Cubase but it helps in 90%.

If you haven't already, download LatencyMon und check if any driver is giving problems. Maybe, like Jayster suggested, your RME drivers are problematic or any other driver is causing Hard Pagefaults. You can test it with this tool.

    Thanks @Keenlickle :like:

Any chance you could elaborate a bit: "activate the Steinberg Power Scheme under Studio Setup => VST Audio System." .... such option isn´t in my version of Cubase v9.5 :dunno:

Do this first! If it's the network card drivers or any others it's very easy to just disable them with the device manager when you are mixing/recording! The network card drivers in my laptop was causing problems for me with my babyface and now I just disable the network card whenever I need to use my laptop for recording.

@phloopy This is from Cubase 10 but should be the same in 9.5 (If not then look for Devices => Device Setup)

If this doesn't help then I highly suggest the LatencyMon route like others here, too. It will save you a lot of hassle trying to figure out whats going on

In the RME Fireface panel settings, the window where you can set the latency, once you click on the second tab named "About",there's an option "Enable MMCS for ASIO".
I don't remember what this oprtion does exactly, but I read long time ago on the user manual that this option is just for Cubase.Maybe it could be worth a try?:dunno:
For further information about this option, please have a look to the user manual.Sorry if it doesn't help!

And what is your RME driver version?
It is written above the option I mentioned earlier in my comment,in the Fireface panel setting.

I have the v1.168 and it works well with Win10 Pro v1903.However I don't use Cubase.

And what is your version of Windows 10 ?

Maybe you could try to reproduce these crackles in another DAW,so you would know if the problem comes from Cubase or Windows/the Babyface.

I use RME Babyface Pro and Cubase 10 without any issues at all. But this was interesting! I didn't know about it. Gonna do some more research on it. Maybe I can reduce CPU load, occasinal spikes or whatever, even though I'm perfectly happy as it is.
    Thanks!

I have read that there are some problems with fireface line of products, but i have never had any problem with my babyface drivers and win7 to win10! :) Only problem that i had was with the network drivers on my asus laptop, but that's not because of windows.
