Is what i will be building in a little time. Best high end platform for music. Been saving hard . Oh and that DarkPro4, is a great cooler but not for this cpu. You are highly optimistic if you think you will oc the 3960X to 4.3ghz with that cooler. Unless you want it to be noisy @50-55 db and 90 degrees Celcius, you need at least a 360 (triple fan) liquid AIO. This way you can achieve 4.1 - 4.2ghz on all cores with minimal noise (30db) or practically no noise (23-24db) with cpu stock clocks/silent cooler settings and operation temps at 55-65 degrees on max load. The good to best pc case airflow plays its role, keeping the ambient temp inside the case as low as possible you can help the cpu be cooled more efficiently with less heat dissipation thus less consumption. So having a spacious case with a mesh or similar front is optimum for air flow. A 1000W Gold+ psu is also mandatory if you have anything equal or better than a Radeon 580 or GTX 1060. With a low power GPU you can get away with a 850 Gold+ psu. With a 2080 TI you 'll need a 1200W psu to be on the safe side with no noise, and 1500W doesn't sound extreme either for such a config.
The Gigabyte TRX40 Designare is my mobo of choice, same feature set as the Aorus Extreme minus the 10G LAN for 200$ less. You can have 10G with a TB3 adapter later. This mobo provides an ever better value imho as it comes bundled with both the 4x m.2 - pciex16 gen4 Adapter AIC card and the Titan Ridge TB3 card.

Yepp, the TRX40 Designare is second on my list, and what is nice about that choice is that the Thunderbolt add in card is included. As to power supply I think you exaggerate a little bit. I'm not planning two 2080 TI's. As to the cooler you are probably right when it comes to noise level. I probably gonna try it out on stock settings first. Probably no reason to overclock it (this beast has stock clock 3.8GHz). Maybe to around 4.1GHz and I think you will be fine with the DarkPro4 (water-cooling is not for me). When you have build it have me updated on how the 3960X holds up on real time recording live with a plugin chain with ultra low latency. That is the only worry I have with going AMD, how the single core handles real time live recordings. In other words how low you can go on overall latency (low buffer size) without pops and clicks. I hope you gonna go for a thunderbolt audio interface with excellent ASIO drivers for Windows like the Presonus Quantum 2626.

I already have MOTU and RME pci-e. I also have a UAD 8core pci-e DSP card. I'm currently testing AVB and Dante interfaces. If it checks out better than TB3 in real world performance, i may be using the TB just for 10G lan lol. On the TB3, i really like Antelope Discrete8 pres. We 'll see...

You are looking at a ~600W "on paper" max load from just the CPU, GPU and the Chipset on stock clocks. In real world numbers its always more if but in the case of AMD just a little higher at stock. Add anything else you have in there that consumes power and you may reach 700W with no oc whatsoever. Given the efficiency of the 80+Gold category at 100% full load is 89% for 230V (for 115V is 87%), a 1000W psu makes perfect sense. Something like a Corsair RM1000X that's 80+Gold rated, fully modular, semi passive and comes with a 10 year warranty, if you want trouble free operation and your investment safe.
The golden rule here, should be that a larger psu is always more efficient than a smaller one on medium and high loads. So keeping a safe differential distance between your theoretical max load and what your psu is actually capable of, is the best way to ensure long term silent and safe operation with medium to low temps. In other words, if you are looking at a 600-700W load a 1000W psu is in order and even a 1200W makes sense. If the cpu and gpu are oc'd you may be looking at a max load of 1000W and then you should be opting for a 1500 or 1600W psu. I know it sounds absurd, but that's the way it is with so many cores and high end gpus.

That is an excellent point you made. Anything to the contrary, and no system will ever get infected. True, all things being equal a system without AV is 4-5 times more likely to get infected but no matter what you do to protect it, once your system is online, if someone wants to penetrate and infect it they will.
