Ah I understand. Two 27'' isn't really comfortable side by side in a normal viewing distance for a DAW. just.too.big. Did you ever try to lay one of them on the desk? I embedded one 24'' into my desk (by cutting out a piece as large as the screen and putting a board underneath at a small angle - all cables now come from below) and it works really great for me.

Price, $240 was out of his price range for one.

If his wife kills him for $480 what would she do for $850 :trolls:

Let's remember the OP is buying a second one to complement the one he already has. He's not replacing it.

I agree that 27 is too much if they are placed horizontally. I'd go for 24.

Also, like someone very well said, it's a pity 16/10 monitors are rare and more expensive, being 16/10 the best ratio for a monitor.
But it can't be helped, since the TV industry (16/9) "drags" the monitor one to leverage the way more implemented 16/9 manufacturing process.

go bigger, you can get more on there.
the way i use my screens (mixer across my secondary) wider is better, you can fit more channels on it. TBH i cant think of a reason why bigger wouldnt be better unless you were forced to sit close to it.

@SAiNT , you sure not getting rich with AZ and stuff? :winker::rofl:

Hey, size isn't the most important thing. Well, sometimes it is, but not with monitors ...

I used to have 2x 19" 4:3 AG Neovo glass TFT screens when I first built my music machine, many eons ago...
Since I upgraded my PC and my setup changed, I no longer had space for two screens and had to get what I could fit on the desk between my studio monitors.

A LOT of time and research went into what single screen I should replace the old ones with. All sorts of factors had to be considered... Price, size, resolution, connectivity, IPS/TN, 4K or 2K (1440p),refresh rate, sync technology (I also used this machine to game), wanting something flexible and sturdy... I found that IPS were way out of my price range!

Had my budget been higher, of course I would have gone for a 4K screen with similar features, but as I couldn't have both, I settled for this:

FL Studio in 4K... On the mixer on the bottoms there are 72 channels visible!!!

    IMG_3670.JPG
Ableton in 4K... There is really a lot of space in here!!!

Sorry for the crapy iphone camera shots, but in real the display is really sharp (even with the smallest texts)

Dear mates, many thanks to you all for the appreciated suggestions and related effort. Finally I decided for a 24" solutions, it seems the best one for dimensions and budget. And I thimk I'll go for this product
    https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/stylish/gw2480.html
It's IPS, flicker free, and with multiple inputs. It has an unuseful audio, but here it's not available a model without.
Many reviews claim it as a good solution for a budget dual monitor config.
    Thanks again

I'd suggest one ultra wide monitor. Having two monitors isn't ideal since you'll have a bezel in the middle.

Having one ultrawide monitor isn't ideal since you can't put your mixer/piano roll on the second one without dicking around with window size and placement.

When I open Live, I just stretch the session window across the second monitor and the arrangement view automatically follows suit. Or, have one monitor for each

I wish you could separate the parts and have screensets in Live. I guess that doesn't jive with their stubborn everything in one window motif

I'm currently on 2 x 27" U2717D IPS UltraSharp (2560 x 1440) screens side by side and 32" Philips HD TV mounted as 3rd above. I find it very comfortable and having extra space is what I needed.
Guess I'm having screens OCD

I have one ultra wide LG 34" 21:9,3440x1440 pixels, curved monitor and I'm very happy with this config. When you are on the arrangement window it's just awesome to see almost all your song at once,or the possibility to make your arrangement and having one or two plugins at the same time +the browser and for mixing it's very handy to see all these faders at once.I never regretted to have invested such a money on this screen.
Before this monitor I had tried 2x 22" monitors but I didn't like having 2 monitors.

But beware with 4K "small" monitors, you'll see more things in your screen but everything will be very small. On my 34" monitor that is not even 4K,everything is already written rather small,I must be near to it.

That has never been a problem for me,you have shortcuts to display the mixer or not.I don't find that an issue.
It's a shame to have a dedicated screen just for the mixer IMO,because the mixer will use half of the screen vertically.

Because two is better than one. Why have one 38" when you can be more productive with dual 38" hehe. I 'll be going for dual 4k 43". I have been on dual QHD 1600p 30" for about 14 yrs now.
To be realistic, dual and triple monitor setups increase productivity, but they are not for everybody. With that said, all tests and surveys show more work is done in less time with a dual setup.
    https://www.netstar.co.uk/why-two-monitors-are-better-than-one/
To address the elephant in the room, many say "It’s difficult to go back to a setup with a bezel gap created by dual monitors after experiencing one seamless ultrawide screen setup". The same was said in an older similar thread and i didn't want to reply but many people even pros, don't seem to understand that the separating bezels are actually helping productivity instead of hurting it. Our mind puts subconscious markers of where each window in a daw is placed and dual mon's help make those virtual markers more distinctly separate and easier to work with. Personally i avoid ultrawides because they offer medium to small vertical res. I like a 21:9 aspect ratio for gaming and movies. I'd love a 2160p ultrawide but there is none.
    Thnx for the time Chief,
    Cheers :)

Bro :) Displaying the mixer in a separate window constantly is much better than using a shortcut to bring the mixer up etc etc. The latter interrupts the workflow with what is useless, non music related additional command(s). I know it has become second nature to you, but you have to see it for what it really is imho. The separate mixer window on another monitor let's your mind be more focused on the job at hand because the mixer is always in place like a real one would be and you can check readings at any time. Same goes for audio editor windows (if you use 'em much), plugins' gui windows, piano roll or notation window etc., always depending on the style and preference of the user.
Errr... nope, it won't. On a 1440p display it will use about one third of the second monitor's visual estate. About one fifth or one sixth on a 2160p.
    Cheers :)

Lemme throw some light on this please.
China's BOE and S.Korea's LG have about 60%-70% of the world market in LCD panel manufacturing. Others are Samsung, AU Optronics, NEC, Panasonic, Sharp, Innolux, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Pioneer, Planar etc.
But nowhere will you see the usual suspects like Acer, Dell, HP, Philips, Benq, Asus even the high-end EIZO (although EIZO does assemble the whole display and/or even manufacture its electronics exclusively in Japan). Even Samsung (the other Korean giant) who make their own panels occasionally, usually go for LG panels. All these manufacturer brands just put together a monitor and maybe provide their own "twist" for the accommodating electronics. The latter along with a few other technologies like led backlight etc, will determine how good or bad a "final" monitor will be. It maybe a one trick pony only suitable for office or just gaming or an all around versatile display. But the vast majority of the panels used in display monitors are mainly produced by LG and BOE.
So, when you are looking for an IPS monitor, the brand makes a difference but not as much as some may think. All brands have top notch, good, mediocre and bad monitors. The included electronics, spec and warranty is where its at. Of course aesthetics and ergonomic features make a difference too. At times we have seen pretty identical monitors from different brands with the only differentiating aspect being the stand or the color or even the bezel lol. This too is very common, at any given time, specific introduced "new" tech, may become a "hit" among consumers (like the 27" 1440p monitors a few years back or the 23-24" FHD before those or even the 19" CRTs back in the day) and then every manufacturer follows that trend.
Also, no manufacturer will offer -let's say- a 5 years warranty for a product that ain't gonna last much. Most products come with a limited 2 yrs warranty. EIZO on the other hand, give 5 years to their products. But you will pay a premium for this "assembled/made in Japan" monitor, even their cheaper models are not cheap.
My advice ? In any monitor you 'd be interested in:
Read the specs carefully, if possible learn the basics of what these numbers you read on the spec sheet stand for, look for 3rd party reviews, check warranty and service and then decide.
    Cheers :)
