    Hi guys!

As usual, youtube brings us things we were not looking for when searching for something else. And that's precisely what happen
to me with this series few days ago. So, i've found it so useful to me, that i've decided to share with you because i think that
they can be useful for some of you too. BTW, respect to Erik Peabody (a.k.a. VikingGuitar) for doing all this tutorials!

    Intro:

In a music world where everybody is talking about Mixing, Mixing and more Mixing we have the need too of having a very good
and well explained introduction to recording, don't you think ? After all, there will be no mixing without a recording, and
on the other hand a good mixing depends on a good recording... But enough of words, let's shut down the lights and watch
    the videos *yes* .

    Table of contents:

    01. Lesson 1 - Intro to Recording (19:16)
    02. Lesson 2 - Record a Song (13:40)
    03. Lesson 3 - Item Editing (or if you prefer "Audio Editing") (15:49)
    04. Lesson 4 - Effects (28:09)
    05. Lesson 5 - Envelopes and Automation (26:45)
    06. Lesson 6 - MIDI (37:16)
    07. Lesson 7 - Routing (28:19)
    08. Lesson 8 - Advanced Item Editing (or if you prefer "Advanced Audio Editing") (25:01)
    09. Lesson 9 - Walkthrough (a complete 5 track recording session from A to Z - Drums, Bass, + 3 Guitars) (35:33)

Hope this can be of use for the most of you as it has been for me! :mates:
And to Erik Peabody (a.k.a. VikingGuitar), if it happens that one day you read this, THANKS A LOT for spending your time in doing such wonderful and useful tutorials for us.

Why not post this in AudioSex Academy? We now have our own subsection under education so it's separate from the other forums and therefore easier for everyone to find. I envision those series of threads as a one-stop shop for quality tutorials and techniques for music production. If you wouldn't mind I'd like to merge it with that topic. Otherwise it stands to be buried in the subforums and that would be a shame considering the time you put into it and the usefulness of the videos.

    Hey Catalist!

To say the truth, i thought first to post it there, but i was doubtful about ... i doubt it if anybody was allowed to post there or it was only you alone. So, finally i decided to post it here, because i didn't want to be the cause of some possible conflict. But please, feel free to move it into Academy if you feel that it should be there as a main repository of knowledge for users and visitors of AudioSex! (without touching anything if possible please, just moving it  ). And i agree with you about its usefulness (really great FREE tutorials).

No my friend AudioSex Academy like all threads on these forums aren't mine but the community's. They are simply my way of giving something back to all the good people at the forums and possibly adding something of value to their time here. Feel free to post any tutorials that have helped you in your production. In the future I foresee many threads in this section with a focus on quality not quantity. :mates:

That's an important point, otherwise we run the risk to put all YouTube inside AudioSex :bleh:.

BTW, i've found a very good idea that you finally decided to create a table of contents for the videos in your first post in Academy. Personally i think it's a lot better than to have a lot of small window videos (that eventually could go down) filling the threads. Perhaps you should consider also the creation of a "Read before posting any tutorials" basic rules pinned in the Academy sub-forum!. And last but not least, what about creating a basic musical production glossary (also pinned) there ?.

Well, if some more suggestions come to mind i will share it with you... but by now, i think it's enough!
Kind Regards from some place very near of the Mediterranean sea! :mates:

I'm having an annoying time getting this to merge. Would you mind just choosing Edit in your first post, simply copying all the text and repasting it to AudioSex Academy (Part1) I can do it myself but why should I get the credit for the work YOU put in? I think this would fit in there perfectly with what has already been posted and it will round out the series so far. Once reposted if anyone that appreciated the videos could rethank fraggle that would be awesome.

Or if you'd like I can ask SAiNT how to merge the topic but it will take a lot longer. When I do it Wordpress is losing some of the posts on my 2 test topics. :dunno:
I don't want to lose all the information already there because it too a looooooooonnnngggg time to create.

If you do it: REMEMBER TO CLICK EDIT AND COPY THAT TEXT! OTHERWISE IF YOU DON'T CLICK EDIT YOU WILL ONLY BE COPYING THE TEXT AND NOT THE FORMATTING AND LINKS.

And by the way I was going to do a table of contents for the first page of AudioSex Academy but since it was an introduction to the thread I wanted it to look nice. I felt that the first set of videos were just too good to cover up especially since they have the big titles that help make the topic visible. It's also good because since they are very visual you can keep the window small if you are rewatching them. In the future I will stick to a table of contents format. All the best and thank you for sharing your awesome find. You are the spirit of AudioSex my friend. :mates:

I have no problem in do it myself, but don't you think it would be better to create a new post there and not a post inside the first post ?. Or your idea is to create a BIG post filled with everything ?. I think that if it's the second, users may feel lost (or even overwhelmed) with such amount of information without knowing where to find the information they are looking for at least there was a main table of contents in the very first post (as i've seen in other forums in the net) that points to the specific post inside the main post (don't know if i made myself clear with that).

Thanks for the advice, but don't worry as i've been a programmer in the past and i know something about HTML tags and so on :mates: .

Well moving it to that section I can do with no problem. I think it would be great appended to AudioSex Academy (Part 1) but it's up to you. I would make the first page a table of contents but I don't know if I can point to a location within a thread the way it's set up now. What I am thinking of doing is making a SEPARATE thread called table of contents within AudioSex Academy and listing what is covered in each thread with links (that I can do). Maybe this is even what you mean, I thought you meant make the first page of the thread AudioSex Academy (Part 1) and then pointing from there to another place within the SAME thread. Really there will be many threads because that way we can keep it more simple and efficient. I'm still thinking about the best way to approach it but I think the aforementioned would work well. I will start by moving it to the section and we'll see from there.

You took me by surprise! *yes* ... I was just writing while you were moving the post to the new forum, so i continue our conversation here (through copy/paste).

Well, i'm doing great efforts now to keep my eyes open (3:06 in the morning here), but anyway i'll try to answer:

Well, if the idea is to get a BIG post and create a main table of contents in the first post of the thread that would link to the "different" sections in the page then you need to use anchors links. And if thread grows to more than one page long (that it will grow for sure) then you'll have to use links to those "external" pages + anchor links to inside those very pages. Of course to do this you should have access to the HTML source of the web pages of the thread (which probably you have already as moderator) otherwise it's imposible.

Well, as i've told you, now it's too late to give you an elaborate explanation about it (i'm almost sleeping in front of my screen  ), but let me tell you that i offer you "free of charge" my help on anything you need to bring this project to its fullest!.
I still be here a couple of minutes in case you answer, putting some things to download. If not we'll meet again tomorrow to continue this conversation here or by PM. )!

Sorry if I startled you with the move, I thought since I mentioned it in my last sentence you would know. What I can do is create a separate table of contents and link to the page that a certain link is on. I know that's not ideal but it gets us to the right section which could be a start and should serve us well until I can find a better way to do this. I really appreciate your offer for help my friend, that is very awesome of you. I will work on the table of contents and we will see how we can improve it from there. In the meantime feel free to offer suggestions, videos or whatever you'd like. I could always use the help of the great folks in the community to realize the vision of comprehensive quality tutorials for us all. :mates:

Together there is nothing we can't accomplish. *no*

Get some rest fraggle and we'll talk about this again when you're refreshed and have time.

Definitely i'm going to sleep right now, but i didn't want to go without saying that i think you should stick with the main idea of having a big post with a well designed table of contents on it. This would be the better solution to me as a user if i came here in search for help on something i really need to finish my project ... An actual session would be like this: "Oh! An information center in AudioSex (AudioSex Academy)! ... Let's see if i can find what i'm looking for (table of contents) ... Mmmm! This seems what i was looking for (an entry in the table of contents) .... I'm going to click and see ... GOOD! THIS IS JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! Thanks a lot AudioSex/Catalyst for such a great (Academy) idea!!! NOW I CAN FINISH MY PROJECT THANK YOU!").

Oh!, another think i almost forget and which could be important also (at least to me). I would suggest you not to allow users to post tutorials nor comments directly in this main Academy thread. Users should send you a well formated post to you by PM for you to copy/paste in the main thread if approved. I know this could create some conflict with some people in the beginning but after all, a moderator is there to moderate the way he thinks is better for the whole community and not for a few members of that community. And another thing that this could bring to you, even if at the cost of some extra effort, would be more control and quietness at the time of creating new entries for the table of contents. Anyway, this is merely a suggestion.

Now yes, good night brother, see you tomorrow! :mates:
