Well, after Justin Frankel (WinAmp, Reaper), Jules Storer (Tracktion, JUCE) and very few more Chris would be my choice for an audio programming talk.
Respect for you being one of his patreons :shalom: (it had to be a metal lover :metal:)

I'm not the right person to ask because I know a lot of things about music software in theory but I'm still a beginner when producing music.

Why don't you ask @lancexx himself?

Edited: the closest thing I know

Huh. Utterly unaware of this stuff, seems very interesting. I wonder if he'd have issues with someone else grafting GUIs onto his more successful plugs?

Interesting, I don't think so. I fact it would be easy for another plugin developer since his puglins are open source code. At the moment the closest thing has been that Waveform but they're still very basic faders/knobs. And I don't remember if they're bundled as native tracktion plugins or regular vst's.

It's rare that a veteran geek like me doesn't know who he was (just got a quick look). I wonder if there was some part of homage to him in that NetFlix's experimental show "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch"

Yeah, being opensource he may actually be wondering why the f**k no one has taken the initiative and done it yet :D

@Xupito Cool, thank you, I'll check out the video later. If anyone has any specific recommendations, I'd be interested to know (and also why). I'll also consider creating a Patreon account to support this guy, he seems like he deserves it.

Yesterday I saw a Q&A Livestream from Airwindows, which he does weekly.

He addressed a lot of the issues users had eversince they found out about his plugins: way too many plugins with names that are not memorable at all so you don't know which does what. So he is going to release 2 plugin "kits", one for mixing and one for "mastering" including some of his plugins. I think this is a good idea.

I downloaded all of his plugins last wek or so and inspected the readme which is really bad formatted and hard to read and then just picked the plugins I'm interested in for testing. Before doing that I renamed them all and added "airwindows" in front of them so I can find and delete them easily again, if they suck. In mac you can rename plugins and they still work. I don't know if this is possible on PC without breaking them, though.

Which I liked besides the Tape plugins were:

    Baxandall is a nice one
Drumslammer does what it says. Loosely based on Massey Tape Head!!!
Focus balancer type thingy based on equal loudness curves. Pretty interesting, useful and unique
    Ironoxide classic
    That tape again.
Fathom Five Great subharmonic low low bass thingy

In IK multimedia T-RackS Tape80 one guy found weird behaviour in sound, posted dry and processed versions yesterday. Check on gearslutz. Sometimes, start to rethink, either best expensive world standards are really best or not. Even some freebies are better than all this overhyped buggy multi-gigabyte cpu killers.

Releasing plugins without a GUI leads to all kinds of reactions. Really fun to watch.
I'm absolutely sure that there are people judging a plugin's sound more my its visual qualities than by its sound although nobody would admit of course.
Same with these f*in yt videos explaining sound effects by showing an oscilloscope screen, WTF?
I highly welcome being forced to use the ears, not the eyes.

I agree,IK Tape machines sucks. It's a cpu killer, doesn't really sounds good (for me) and I noticed it raises the dynamic range.Strange behavior for a tape saturation plugin. It isn't the case with uhe satin for example.

Just if it is not bad stuff at all, it doesn't worth to create such cpu killing algos, subtle HQ buttons with maximum 1% difference and x8 times more cpu usage, and gigabytes of png files for GUI (Arturia).
Overhype, Bob Katz/Ludwig/Ohlsson & all other engineers/producers/mixers endorcers, and beautiful hardwared GUI - - - and plugins "sounds" better and more analog :D
A lot of mediocre and snake oil in the market. But there is a lot of very good, excellent and top quality software too.

I agree,I don't like Arturia at all.I will never buy anything Arturia.I think their hardware is even worse than their software.I heard their "analog" drum machines on YT and it's insane how they sound like *hit.I wonder how some people can like this "sound".

Air Windows just has too many plugins and many with odd names so you don't remember what they do. if you add most of them, you'll likely use none of them. I think it's bets to selectively pick a handful and try them out. That said, some are quite useful and worth a try.

Yeah, many plugins. But you may filter them out, sort in categories. There a text file in a full plugin archive.

    Also recommend:
    HardVacuum
    SingleEndedTriode
    Vari-Mu
    Desk, tubedesk, transdesk
    Busscolours
    Pafnuty
    Acceleration
    Pop
    PurestWarm
    PurestSquish
    PurestDrive
Console (a lot of them, even there is a script for Reaper to start with consoles/busses).
    Mojo, dyno, density, drive....
    Interstage, coils, crystal, blockparty
    Distance
    Pyewacket
    Pressure, thunder, fathomfive, spiral, spiral2
    Logical, compresaturator, loud, drumslam
    ToTape, FromTape, IronOxide (5/classic)
    ToVinyl, GrooveWear
    Pressure
    Channel...

Not all i remember right now, but you can start with them. Test, measure, analyse, listen. Good saturators, harmonic creators, compressor, deharshers. Also Bass enharcers etc.
More will try to add soon into this list. Also he has a good bunch of dithering, wordlength reducers. BitshiftGain, PurestGain. And more... But some plugins (a lot) i don't use (choruses, for example)
