Kaspersky is the best! one of a few programs I'm paying for.
I tried many AVP's, but none of them even close to what Kaspersky does.

So buy yourself latest KIS and forget about all your worries.

Nevertheless, it will obviously slow down your system performance, because it has to monitor all the executed files, all the traffic etc.
You can disable some things, but i'd rather upgrade and be sure that i'm safe.

In other hand, there's also Outpost Firewall Pro, which serves as Firewall and Malware detector. It's a good app and i've been using it for a long time, along with KAV, but then I upgraded KAV to KIS and removed Outpost.

Don't waste your time, just listen to my advice.

UPD: there's another topic with pool in it:

On the other hand you can always install VirtualBox to use for browsing and testing programs, and have your main system clean, and clean of any "anti" programs, running smoothly for audio. What's even better with VirtualBox you can run whatever operating system you want like Linux, XP, 7, BSD... It's the best "anti" everything because everything that happens in that virtual OS can be erased at will [you can make "screenshots" and go back to a certain point you choose]. Here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads It's free.

I sometimes use virtual OS to test what viruses do and how to clean them manually, too. Not to mention running suspicious "keygen" programs. It's SO handy for any suspicious work and to keep your main OS clean. ;)

Throughout years I went through many AV and antimalware, antiwhatever programs, and decided they're just not worth a bother. All these programs slow down and "pollute" your OS in some way, even the ones you start manually. So I found VirtualBox to be a serious "not just patching up shit with more shit" solution. Humans tend to patch up things instead of resolving the core problem entirely. ;)

It's also a great idea to make occasional backups of your system partition with a simple program like DriveImageXML. When you make an image with this program, it is a perfect copy of the partition, unlike any of the programs you get with Windows that can easily get infected with viruses. Here: https://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm It's also free.

    Cheers!

I use AVAST free, works very well and updates itself at least once a day. You have to remember that a lot of the "cracked" files will appear to the antivirus software, to be a virus, known as a false positive. If I have a problem it is usually when installing, so I just disable the antivirus when installing the new software, sorted :dancing:

malwarebytes (free) is another excellent piece of software which will help keep your pc clean

Yeah, Malwarebites is a great manual virus and malware cleaner that even I sometimes use because it's not resident in the memory.

just get a trial KIS (internet security), spend half an hour to set it up and then decide. although you'll probably just forget about it after everything is set up. *yes*

yes, there are some good deals; if you want to save, you shouldn't just buy it from KAV web-site, but from retailers. *yes*

yeah, and also used to block PeepLink.in for months, even thought i wrote many letters to their support asking to unblock it. :snuffy:

ESET Smart Security is a lightweight package and I believe version 7 is in beta. You'll get an anti-virus, a firewall and anti-theft capabilities. Also MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware to catch any threats that your antivirus won't. Extremely file-sharing friendly. *yes*

PS Kaspersky is good too, Russians tend to dominate the coding arena.

I like Avast alot. It's free and a small footprint.
Btw. w*rez or legit has nothing to do with your AV solution.

    Hi Friends,
I should like to know wich is the most comfortable antivirus for us, for our way to work.
I have used for years Comodo Internet Security but from some time they modified making it hard to work because of false positives.
So I should like to experiment another antivirus which makes more simple to work.
    Thanks.
Some time later I found the way to dissable automatic sandbox. Things are fine now.

Dr. Web is my all time favourite, yearly subscription for 14€ :phones:
Light on resources, yet still finds infection ESET couldn't detect.

You could just avoid clicking random links and porn sites. :X

I never had "virus" problems myself but i had help other people fix their issue. Malwarebytez and avg used to do the trick. Most virus/trojan/etc.. can be google and often have solutions.

Now, you gotta make sure whats running on your computer. You could use cpu/ram programs that let you find out whats running or using all your ram/cpu. You might not need to reformat if you can figure out the problem. Sadly, i don't know any good ones for that.
