    This is a bit of a double edged sword, because he talks fast, goes off on tangents, and may or may not cover the types of sounds you want to make, but if you really want to get into the nuts and bolts of how sound design works, I think he's the best and most insightful free/easily accessible content out there

    for more general stuff, channels like Mr. Bill and Slynk are very good

    Have you checked out Syntorial on sister site? It is basic, maybe you want something different?

    Please specify the kind of "Sounddesign" you are refering to.

    Soundsynthesis = Sounddesign
    Layering Sounds and modifiying with digital processors = Sounddesign
    Recording Sounds created with real Objects = Sounddesign
    Designing car doors to sound nice when shut = industrial Sounddesign

    The overall mood and colour of a film = sound design

    @5teezo
    Hey have you checked out on AZ the book 'Making Waves - The Art Of Cinematic Sound'?
    Quote from blurb "An exploration of the history and emotional power of cinema sound, as revealed by legendary sound designers and visionary directors, via interviews, clips from movies, and a look at their actual process of creation and discovery."
    My late father was a film editor and then producer/director, and I've worked in post.
    Seems funny you disagree with me.

    I disagreed because the statement that mood and color of a film would equal to sounddesign is false.

    If you put that in context of music composition, the choice of instruments and sound effects that create a mood I would have agreed. But it sounded like you were referring to editing. And color... well that's not sound related. Timbre would have been sound-related, that i could have co-signed.

    I don't know why you felt the need to bring up your personal background on the matter, but I am a Sounddesigner so that's that.

    Haha! Of course I was referring to audio! As in thread title Sound Design! Yes; colour as in sound, and mood as in sound!!
    Obvs.
    So no need for you to think/decide otherwise and disagree.

    This IS "in context of music composition"; we're on a thread entitled Sound Design, at AudioSex!:deep_facepalm:
    And I felt the need to bring up my background because you didn't seem to understand. I don't know why you felt the need to bring up your background, but I'm sure it involved learning English.
    Something I dislike is people giving 'Disagree' ratings through a misunderstanding.

    When dealing with definitions, it's probably wise to come up with more precise words appropriate to the topic than esoteric terms like "mood" and "color"! In other words: misunderstanding is a dual-channel principle concerning both the sender and receiver of information! I've learned english for 9 years in school as a secondary language and I majored in it. And even I know that. How good is your german nowadays?

    According to your "feelings" about what sound design is ("color" and "mood"), a fart in packed elevator could be considered sound design: the fart might be dull or sizzling and the mood could be pretty low ins this situation. :D But that's not what OP was asking for and it isn't helpful.

    Have a nice day.

    So it's your second language. I rest my case! You don't know.
    We are in a thread regarding sound design. Should say it all imo.

    So why did you post your first comment at all?
    Hören Sie zu. Ich denke, Sie sind für den Sport argumentierend? Und Sie sollten nicht versuchen, einem Muttersprachler über seine eigene Sprache zu erzählen, wenn Sie eklatant keine Ahnung haben.
    Sie sind witzig.

    +1 one for being able to use google translate.
    Now if you actually would research the definition of "sound design" you could really impress me here.
