Just bought it, had the V1 and yes rely worth it's price, it's sounding more natural, less artefacts when you turn the knob , makes materials so soft i want to wash my shirts with it ! Great tool

"soothe2 uses the iLok License Manager"

I don't see any upgrade there

Sonically it is an improvement. That's what matters. Yea there are plenty of successful records without it but there are also plenty of successful records that would've sounded better with it. Especially in rock tunes where I've heard shrill highs on some top notch stuff. The whole point of new technology is to make advancements which this is doing very much.

Soothe 2 raises cpu usage from 2% to 4% and the original went from 2% to 7%. Definitely a nice improvement on cpu usage and it is just better overall. It sounds better, less artifacts, reducing resonance/harshness better, and I'm finding it easier to dial in the right sound I'm looking for so far.

I upgraded today and am really pleased with it. There are more factory presets to get you started but, as with version one, you only appreciate it's real benefits when you listen to what is being removed from a sound or mix.

Is soothe good without vocals? I mainly just make beats so could this help out in any way?

hmm i wouldnt say so, i make trap and trapsoul beats myself and ive never used it in such a production cus usually there are no resonance problems with the drum samples or melodies.
when i dont use soothe on vocals i use it on acustic/live cymbals or hi hats that are harsh, or just in general an untreated sound, but in beats the samples and melodies are pretty spot on and you just build and tweak it to your needs, but i mean - go give the demo a try?
remember its just a problem solver, but a very good one, so if you dont have problems that it solves - theres no need for it

Downloaded the demo to see if i want to upgrade.

Soothe2 eco is 53% faster than Soothe1 normal
Soothe2 Normal 33% is faster than Soothe1 normal

    Testing methodology:
    Studio One 4.6.1
8 channels of tone generators doing sine sweeps followed by soothe1s and 2s.
    offline export 100 bars.
    compare the render times.

My opinion of soothe has always been that it works great. but becuase of the resource requirements its always been a last resort "nuke" option. So now that its a lot faster, in my opinion it more "daily" usable. Next will be the sound test.

It asks for your iLok username then checks to see if you have a license for the original Soothe before processing your 50 euro payment for the upgrade.

The sidechain feature makes it a killer tool for dealing with masking frequencies

    Yawn. We need better observations.

All material can have issues—recorded or sampled. The context makes all the difference. Soothe is just a tool. And a very good one.

BTW, sampled strings are some of the harshest-sounding samples in existence. Soothe is worth it alone just to make sampled strings not so annoying.

I'd buy it if it weren't for iLok.

I will never put The Devil's Dongle into my port.

You havent needed a dongle for years with Ilok (people need to get over the fact that ilok ONCE used a dongle. You hear it everytime that ilok is mentioned). ilok is the easiest to authorise, I use many UVI instruments. You assign the licence to your account (2 seconds) and transfer the licence to your computer (another 2 seconds) and thats it. Move past this ilok myth, we are in the 2020s now (oh and the internet doesnt use dial up anymore, theres a newer operating system than Windows 98 and mobile phones aint the size of a brick anymore, so you can actually put them in your pocket (incase you were thinking - I'd buy a mobile phone if it wasnt so big and would fit in my pocket, ha, ha)
