    Hi to everyone.
I am new to this forum.

Due to these current Australian fires burning everything my wife and I had ever owned, I have the chance to restart from the ground up (when the insurance comes through). My instruments, recording gear and everything
else you could think of is gone. We at least survived it. ..some didn't.
Thankfully we are insured so we should be able to get back to some sense of normality in a few months time. In the meantime, we are in a reasonably comfortable apartment paid for by the insurance.
So...I came to this forum to learn as much as I can regarding recording
equipment etc and room treatment in some sort of preperation for when we do find a new place to live.
All my guitars and keyboards are all gone too so any recommendations for what to buy will be fun.
My posessions at the moment are a laptop, my phone and an extension cord lol.
Once the insurance comes through, we will buy another suitable place. My wife can have whatever she wants and then I will hopefully have a budget of roughly $35000 Australian dollars to spend on room treatment, instruments, recording and mixing gear. This is the only positive I can hold onto at the moment.
Anyway people, if you can recommend gear that I shoould look at, it will be great.
Also, I want to try and learn as much as I can about recording with an analogue/digital mix.
    Cheers,
    Jack

The two desks i am looking at are Allen&heath QU32 and presonus live consoles.
it is so confusing to know where to look.
There is the Beringer Wing and Soundcraft desks....overwhelming

What instruments will you need, what are you going to record (rock bands, yourself, pop musicians), how big will be your studio etc?
Think first before you asking, you gave too little information.

So sorry to hear about your family as well as the so many others who have lost their lives, their possessions and as well as the millions of animals terribly impacted or killed. It's truly a nightmare.

It would help to set up some parameters in order to help the mind trust here pull out their pearls of wisdom to advise in gear to get you back up and running. What have you lost and what kind of music are you working on? That would get the ball rolling in a good direction.

    Thanks guys.
You are all correct. I didn't give you much to go on.
I have been doing just home recordings on pc using Presonus interface.
I play acoustic 12 string, electric guitars and piano/keyboards.
I am visualising our new place to have a decent size room i can use to record.
I am by no means an expert in anything but I would like to try and branch out and record
    small time artists etc.
    Thanks

yeah it really has been horrible.
It is a New Years Eve we will never forget all for the wrong reasons.
And the fires continue to burn.

This time I have to ask you all to respect the topic of this thread.
Many people in Australia are having a hard time to say the least, so please Gyro and who ever have off topic comments, be respectful or pass your way. Your ego can wait for another occasion.
    Thank you.
