I went would build patches out of 808s I'd like from kits in Presence XT for Studio One. This served me well for years but I had to do a lot of the processing to get them sounding how I'd like in the mix. Recently I started using Sublab and it has been much faster getting the sounds I like.

 

The term 'best' is subjective. What is best for me may not be best for you!

Which one do I use? If I want an 808 sound, I grab the original 808 sound and sculpt it myself to fit the project I'm working on!

 

The 8,133rd one. Duh!! You would know that if you have actually used it before. Use it for your next three tracks you won't look back I promise.

P.S,: Imagine if you actually had 10,054 songs to accompany your 10,054 Vsts. Like imagine, take a second I'll wait.

P.S.S.: Seriously though, use the 8,133rd plugin in your list, almost exclusively. You'll double thank me later.

Surely it's Nepheton anyway. Though if it's just a kick you're after, I'm also liking Sublab and Kick2.
For wavs, I still reach for Goldbaby.

My choices are probably based on the fact that -- as someone upthread said -- these were the first ones I got.

 

The best one is the new one you didn't download yet ;-)

 

The D16 Nepheton and the Roland Cloud 808. To my ears the Roland version is one tiny bit closer to the real thing but the Nepheton offers more control over the sounds you 'll be creating.

PS: Just remember that the real TR-808s do NOT sound exactly identical to each other. Back in the day we checked 3 of them side by side in the studio, and all 3 sounded slightly different with the exact same settings. Long live analog man hehe...

use the 4,312th plugin in your list.. that will make the music for you. Then..sit back and collect the Royalties.. good luck

 

Scan them for viruses. Listen to all of them 3 times daily. It will be nice for you. And please apply yourself for English classes. A sample is always better. It is easily tweakable if the VST you use is shit.
