After restart and stuff like that Ableton 10.1 opening very slow on my Windows 10 system. I think I found the solution:
    Go into Defender:

    Then do this:

    Add to process:
    Ableton Live 10 Suite.exe

I'd use another OS, like LTSC

It also has Defender? Or do you have the tiny version without Defender and Firewall?

You can disable defender in group policy and it doesn't re-enable itself later.. I expect its the same with the firewall. I'm using the full version.

What was strange about this issue is when I turned off Defender I still think Ableton was opening slow. And when Defender is on with the .exe added exclusion it was opening normal. That being said I'm not interested in turning off Defender. I'm online all the time an Defender is the most optimized and best anti-virus for Windows 10

defender like all else...getting "better" in public opinion but also consuming CPU....is like anything...if machine don't have the power, don't use the internet? Your music possibly then shine? Disconnect lol...Its an antivirus not a problem?

Virus could be a problem also offline. Lets say you download some pirated software on a flash drive then try and install it on your music production pc. Your pc will then get infected. So if you turn of anti-virus; never go online, never install new software. As to CPU use for Defender, it is minimal and not a problem on a pc that can handle music production

Why would you try out anything 'iffy' on your main music production partition?

Thank you Daskeladden! Brilliant. Do you mind telling us how you figured that out?

I also agree with you: Defender is an excellent anti malware program. I've been using it exclusively for years and feel no need to use anything else other than an occasional free Malwarebytes scan.

Fantastic & very Relevant thread =)

I used to wonder why Live took so long comparatively long to others, really not a fan of windows defender and I keep it disabled on my offline pc and much prefer third-party utilities for intermittent scans.

I've had pretty decent luck with the newest k'ed update of Live and it's loading a lot more snappy now.

A while back I did the same with Kontakt, excluding all file extensions related to Kontakt in Defender. It seems to have helped a lot with load times. I'll give it a try with Live as well.

Just disable it antivirus is overrated. Turn off your firewall as well. Plug off the internet. That is wat ableton recommends.
