It's really useful, I use a .reg file who adds the context menu to the file explorer on Windows 10. I don't know if it works on Windows 7

Jut in case... don't try this on your Windows folder. I mean, I've tried, couldn't help myself, but only after a system backup... which was necessary after the mess

As long as your hardware and software work as they should and you get the work done, there is no need to update. Unless you want to keep up with the latest software if your business demands than you can make a dual boot system or run two separate systems, win7/10.
The third reason would be your new hardware/components dont support the older OS any more, than you dont have any other choice but to upgrade really.

Latest CPUs have some optimizations that works under W10 only, which sucks, but they still work with W7, dunno if those are really important for musicians. Also saw some discussion about professional video codecs not supporting W7 and I think latest cubase 10.5 cannot do video exports on W7, but still do on W8.1

Yep. Rule of thumb should be if the main chipset driver works, all the rest should work. Last time i checked ( that should be a month ago) Intel and AMd chipsets are compatible with even WinXP x64 (although installing xp64 maybe hard to pull off). They just don't tell you so. The easiest way to install Win7 on modern mobos should be using an optical drive and Win7 burned on bootable DVD. Best be your Win7 iso is one of the latest SP1 builds. Mobo bios should be set to legacy or legacy+uefi depending on the mobo. Use a usb 2 port on the mobo for mouse/kbrd or ps/2 if you have.
And if you like a video on this, (those guys dunno much, at one point one of them refers to ryzen igpus as ending with the letter U when its actually G, but they are trying alright) here:

Btw, as Pirate stated you can use Win7 for as long as you like. Screw everyone saying otherwise (MS lol) , just make sure your AV is up to date (or just stay offline if you like) and back up your important data on a regular basis.
    Cheers Seveners :)

Everyone is blaming Microsoft when in all reality all blame should be directed to the developers and manufactures that sold us their software and hardware and now are turning their back on us. I agree with @taskforce and @The Pirate, Windows 7 users dont need to panic as long as we are happy our with our setupswe can continue to make music without any need for updates. That equals to less headaches.
