i wish i had the guts to do it.

seriously, my life has been more about checking sites to download the latest cracked software than it is about making music

my plugin collection keeps me from having writers block before promptly replacing it with Neverfinishanything block, and it's the time in between that forced me to seek out shady sites like this.

Lol big facts! It gets to the point where you just want to download as many plugins as you can just to have em' but never use them. Smart :like::wink:

Yeah I've been having a hard time with that as well. It's great to have so many options, on the other side I keep spending all of my time checking out news about new releases or old releases, without ever putting them to use.

any type of sound maker or good sample pack or kontakt lib is welcome anytime... love some new sounds and i got way too many but i think an abundance of sounds is not a damper honestly. more ingredients for better cookin but i stopped worrying about all the newest sound processing stuff or "that new _______"... insert plugin type. pro q 3, bx ssl4000 E, trackspacer(sometimes), xenoverb, neutron 3 transient designer, ozone 9 maximizer, handful of distortion & saturator plugs, handful of cool delays. if you watch any tutorials from established guys alot of them aren't swimming in software really. alot of them actually have very little.

Tbh one solution to collecting too many plugins is to actually buy your plugins. Try that and see if you’re not motivated to put them to good use

You guys have to hit the metaphorical wall, hit the bottom of the pit, rock bottom, b4 u realise that collectapluginitis is truly a waste of life and time - from personal experience I advise cold turkey, (just in time for Christmas) take it slow one day at a time, you can do it...

It remembers me that day, when after so many years of incessant fights with my girlfriend, I finally decided to leave her for good.
As I was too cowardly to take action, she was the one who left.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid my plugins can never disappear by themselves...

Sister is my auditioning cast. I download, test, compare, create with, then use Radium's/R2R's terms of service agreement, and chose to either delete or buy as a permanent place in the studio. It's kept the hard drive space happy, creativity flowing, my mind sane, and rewarded the developers that deserve it.

I created more music with no plugins; yet, it's so hard to let go and go back.

I'm one step behind you. I usually have two of a certain type if they excel at something different. I.e, one convolution reverb and one algo; one clean eq and one for vibe; one really simple delay and one fancy; etc. Still, having mostly two choices, for me, is far better than dozens, esp dozens that I'd rarely use. Sort of senseless. And I can use the hell outta the one or two that I keep because I know them in and out. No guesswork. No constantly having to (or wanting to) reach for something else. No stopping the creative process because of too many choices. Love it.
Great choice you've made in my book.

I figured out ages ago that with a few important exceptions this is way more about being a collector for me than anything else. I have backup drives loaded with stuff but there's probably about 20 FX plugs and 10 instruments I really use regularly.

Curiously... I made a post of this. Asking if there wasn't too much material and limited the creation. Most of them told me that they were tools to be used. I think that sometimes they help but other times they confuse the idea that we have about music. But I must admit that I'm addicted to plugins. They're like a toy store to me.

Plugin downloading addiction is a substitute for the practical creativity that one lacks. You want to come to terms with the fact that you are not able finish some good music but it is a difficult fact to accept, so you compensate by spending hours and hours looking for the perfect product that will finally let you make music. Surprise: That product will never come because it was already there when you first downloaded your DAW: The stock plugins. Or the first few extra plugins that you downloaded. What you're lacking is not plugins but the practicality to produce results with them. I know this feeling so well because I stuck with it for years and years. Since earlier this year when I found a good music job and started to make money with my music, I've no more had any time or need to go plugin hunting any more.

The feeling of accomplishment, constantly getting things done and being appreciated and being paid for the things you're getting done completely erases the need for the hunt. It turns the boy into a man.
