I've been using Goodsync almost 10 years as it's convenience and the interface. Only my single complain is that it deletes and copies instead of moving at the destination side when I MOVED files and folders at the source side. It is time consuming, especially if you move the big size of folders or files to elsewhere.

Therefore, I have to move the folders and files manually in the explorer before I launch Goodsync every time. It's kinda hassle.

I'm wondering if any sync/backup software to solve this problem.

    SyncBackPro is what I use.

You can decide what it does regarding your source and destination, when you move files or whatever, weither it's regarding source or destination, just set your profile in detailled/advanced view, and edit your "decision files" part to tell the soft what it should do in which situation

I have been using Free File Sync (on version 10.18 right now).
It allows you to compare, mirror one-way or bi-directionally, filter or exclude various things from the comparison.
I've been using it among 3 computers to keep consistent copies of frequently-changed stuff I have synced to online storage.
(But not using Free File Sync to DO the online sync ... just between networked computers. Each computer syncs to the internet on its own).
Since changes are made on two of the computers it is good to be able to sync the newest to whichever computer has the older version.
Sometimes i was doing it several times per day, as one computer held critical family business and the other my personal business.
I manage about 5.5 T in my DAW software archives too (simply mirroring as backup for them, as i only update the main archive and then mirror).
It offers real-time syncing as well, but that may be the paid version and i never got around to looking into it.
I only wanted to run it when I decided anyway.

I looked into SyncBackPro when I was looking for something to do this job ... I think I may have opted to test Free File Sync first and just never needed more. Lots of reviews online and it depends on what you want to do and spend.
In looking at reviews, I just noticed EaseUS has a sync program...

I have used EaseUS Todo backup for years for standard offline backups and it seems good, but never tried their sync program.
I only had two corrupted images some years ago, and I have restored over a hundred images it creates, using various computers with Win7 through current Win10.
On my current DAW machine install I have restored the image maybe 20 times since I began setting it up (mid-March 2019).
I did the image restores when switching to other SSDs, and when things did not install as I wanted.
Since I am running a DAW , well.....
It takes awhile for some mistakes or ... "glitches" to become apparent. Especially true with "unofficial" releases of certain products...
And I like to restore images mostly because I like to know things are EXACTLY the way they were before the install or changes.

Hey i just noticed this when looking at comparisons:

Thanks a lot. I switched from FreeFileSync to SoodSync now. Free parallel threads and solved a super annoying error I got in combination with Cryptomator. Any downsides you can think of?

Only thing that annoyed me at first is that it will move deleted stuff to another folder by default for 30 days i think.. you might want to turn that off :)

    Matterhorn42
Cool. Yeah that sounds like something I'll tune down

Here is the page I found it:

I don't know anything about how to turn off that option but it seems like what you might be talking about, and it seems as GoodSync is the better program in general...

GoodSync is so good. And this is by far its worse feature, of the ones activated by default I mean.

Will it be a sufficient solution if I backup all my crucial folders (audio recordings and DAW project files, my own samples and DAW user folder / settings) to the cloud? What will be the downsides of that simplistic approach?

Justin Frankel of reaper had a rsync program at one time it was free. I can't remember the name though.

rsync is free software (open source). For Windows, I'm using the one that can be found in MSYS2. For Mac, Linux and Android, getting a binary is much easier.

rsync is probably the best option if you need to one-off sync across a bunch of different operating systems and storage mediums.
    Downside: no GUI.

For continual syncing I'm using Syncthing, also works on every operating system, including Android.

Yes Rsync is free but I think Justin added a GUI to it for windows users and did some tweaking to it. I know there are other out there that use open source as it's core.

Also, you can replace GoodSync with Duplicati or Gs Richcopy360, for years both have been very responsible and reliable
