I appreciate all this info, thanks. It's a lot to take in.
This thread went from informative to funny to kind of scary. After reading all this I think I'll wait on stepping out of the matrix for now, sometimes ignorance really is bliss.

A lot of shit happens in front of our eyes all the time, and it's on the normal web. People who used facebook live to kill others or succeed each other, were not on the deep web. The man who went to texas and killed a lot of Mexicans, had all his hatred in his facebook profile. A person left at the mercy of the followers of twitter to see if it killed or not, the followers had to vote and was killed and was not the deep web. Bad things are everywhere. But there is a lot of distortion of all this.

no i think you missed the part when i specifically said ive knowledge enough to purchase a modded xbox 360 on the tor network and have it delivered . the missing expansion on what i meant was that this was when the xbox 360 was still relativly new , meaning 2008.

the idea that there was only one O.G hidden wiki is also false because that would invalidate the entire concept .

also tor is only 1 part of the darknet and not the only way to navigate nor find things on the darknet and overall deep web.
even moreso aside from the fact that tor uses onion sites , there really isnt much difference between that and oldschool 90's internet before it became more widespread.

ive many memories of having my childhood ruined by stumbling on drawn furry disney porn as the image takes 20 minutes to load, or ending up in the really weird parts of IRC with people spamming "MEOW" over and over in 97.

So, according to this definition, Baidu would let us into 'unfiltered web'?
On Yandex I found three russian audio cracking sites I could find nowhere else...

I really don't know... in theory everything that is p2p (for example) would be badly called "deep web". Google is monopolizing everything. I have had website and if google does not index you, it is difficult to find you, even worse if google receives a complaint, web pages are required to take out the content or google does not show you 'the whole search result'. I don't know how other search engines will work. For example there are servers that allow you to host material forbidden by google and are not necessarily drugs, can be movies, music, etc. . These servers are very expensive In conclusion. It's more a matter of convenience than what's wrong. On Facebook itself there are groups of counterfeit credit cards, weapons, etc.. And it's not the deep web.

Search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo are able to search and index websites because of links. Regular browsers search the so-called “surface web,” but that’s where the search stops. The only difference is in what is forbidden on such engines. And most liberal are Yandex (Russian) and Baidu (Chinese - cracks and cracked software concerning).

Almost every time you search internally on a particular website, you’re accessing deep web content.

The deep web just holds the content that’s invisible to regular search engines. Here are a few examples of what’s on the deep web:
    · The content of your personal email accounts
    · The content of your social media accounts
    · The content of your online banking accounts
    · Data that companies store on their private databases
    · Content contained within scientific and academic databases
    · Medical records
    · Legal documents…

A lot of what exists on the deep web consists of information that you probably wouldn’t want to turn up in a web search — like your checking account information.

I can only talk about what I know and not what I don't know. As I said before, I have been using the internet since 1999 and there was no filter whatsoever. You could look for what you want, since you will find it or if it is true, it is different. For example I remember pages where I downloaded music programs and it was all fake. I have not used yandex, so I can not comment on it. But if you search in Google, firefox, operates, something that is prohibited, none of them will appear. And for my point of view, it is because they are monopolizing everything. I imagine that in the "deep web" there must be everything. With regard to stolen information, I say the same thing again. Google has accidentally stolen information with its Google street car. A famous antivirus has also done it. A lot of programs do. Of course they can't go and put it on an official website afterwards. This tale of the one who works in a bank and is an ally of the thieves is not something new. This is long before the Internet. Drugs, weapons, etc. The Internet didn't bring it, the Internet is just another medium.

    you are correct.
it works both in their favour and against them. they could pull the cord any time they want, but right now they apparently dont feel like they would benefit from it in places where we can use it still.
they use it for their dirty little secrets too.

In fact Tor was originally designed, implemented, and deployed as a third-generation onion routing project of the Naval Research Laboratory. It was originally developed with the U.S. Navy in mind, for the primary purpose of protecting government communications, but later on taken over by US government. The government needed a way to go onto websites anonymously, so they started to use The Onion Router.
When you surf the Web, you really are just floating at the surface. Dive below and there are tens of trillions of pages that most people have never seen. They include everything from boring statistics to human body parts for sale (illegally).Google and others don't capture pages behind private networks or standalone pages that connect to nothing at all. These are all part of the Deep Web.Some 13% of Deep Web pages lie hidden because they're only found on an Intranet.
The Dark Web of today is reportedly in decline. Despite this, there is an incredible variety of hidden services and significant information exchange happening out of sight of the mainstream web. It doesn’t really matter that the Dark Web is relatively small compared to the surface web as a whole. Its impact is disproportionately large. Small groups of hackers collaborating on the Dark Web can bring a multi-billion Dollar internet company to its knees. Hackers end up impacting millions of users.
