before posting silly questions, try searching this forum, you may find what you are looking for :bleh:

(clue) what are you using to play the library?

I feel the wrath Of Catalyst will now descend upon you, vent his anger at you and cast you astray from this group, never to return to it's hallowed ground again :wow:

    You rang? :lmao:
First let me respond to SirSillySausage's depiction of yours truly (I hope you're joking) with an answer from AudioZ:
People get the wrong idea about me because I tell it like it is. I simply would like for people to respect the scene and the community. Those that do will find that I have a pleasant disposition towards them and am more than happy to help with anything I can. Those that act like spoiled children will be treated as such. And not only does this method work quite well but a lot of people have aligned themselves with this viewpoint. You get what you give, it's all very straightforward.

About discussing warez: I myself am not 100% sure about that. I believe that SAiNT wouldn't want even that because he wants this site to exist independently from the warez scene but who knows? I'll bring it up when I talk to him later and we'll see what he says. I've only been moderating for like a week in a half so there are still some grey areas that need clarification and rather than make the call myself I would prefer to investigate further. I'll tell you one thing: if it's against the rules we've got a real problem because it's been going on for quite a while.

Thank you Mr. Catalyst for getting involved with this situation. When I read SirSilly's post I understood it to be tongue-in-cheek, as evidenced by his use of icons. He was being helpful without saying too much, based on his understanding of the rules. I also like Lord Gaga's straightforward answer to our newbie's question, which is the obvious solution to those of us who have been around awhile but could easily escape the notice of a neophyte (especially when it comes to NI, Toontrack and a few other products). Before things get too out of hand, let's put this in the "mission accomplished" file and wait for further instruction on the use of the "W" word.

P.S. My sincere appreciation goes out to all the contributors. You've changed both my life and my music.

You sound like my kind of guy. Honestly if it were up to me I would allow warez discussions but I can understand why someone may not want that. It can endanger the longevity of the site and if at sometime in the future everything were to be taken down it would be the saddest of days because there is so much value here beyond warez or even words. The rules imply no requests or link-sharing but there's no mention of discussion. Personally if I wanted to include all things warez related I would just say no warez so maybe it's cool. I don't know but I'll certainly check into it and have an answer shortly. Thanks for taking the time to show your respect for the site and your appreciation for the hard work of our contributors. I'm sure we'll bump into each other again soon. All the best until then. :mates:

I apologize to everyone for my mocking of a newbie and perhaps my sense of humour is a little bit too much for some, I wasn't intending to be malicious to anyone, and I felt I had answered his/her question without abusing the forum's rules and to point him/her in the right direction to solve their problem. :mates:

Nobody is upset with you for mocking a newbie (that's what they're for  ) and I actually thought you handled that really well. I also know you were joking to some degree about me but I wasn't sure if there was a part of you that actually felt that way so that's where the confusion stemmed from. Forums are such cold communication and I'm sure there would be no misunderstandings if we were talking face to face because there's other stuff like intonation, body language, etc. I guess I was unsure as to how you felt about my moderation and I was curious in the interest of feedback. I'd really like the forums to be a vacation for everyone not a job where some douche is looking over your shoulder and being critical of every little thing.

You're absolutely correct but since I've become an admin I guess I've just become uber aware of every little thing. It's kind of like when you started production and all of a sudden there was another level to music that you were hearing. It makes me second guess every action I take out of respect for SAiNT, the community and the rules. Then I see members that have been here longer than me that don't even know so that makes me feel unsure as to what exactly the rules are about this anyway and being that I am supposed to be an enforcer of the rules that poses quite the conundrum. I think he only meant warez requesting and links and until I hear different that's the only thing I'm enforcing. I know casual conversations are okay, I was just wondering about topics like walking a user through protection removal and things of that nature.

Nothing more annoying than all those kiss ass "read the rules" mod wannabes...

I mean, what's your point? Wanna 'help out' the community?

My point is that it's not my site and if actions I take somehow endanger what someone has spent countless time on that's undesirable especially considering that person is also my friend but thanks for your input. I can't imagine how we could have made it through the day without it.

If you don't like the idea of community then why are you here? Why don't you go hang out by yourself and enjoy the fruits of YOUR labor? And you're wrong about there being nothing more annoying as you fit the bill quite nicely. *yes*

I have no problem discussing warez, I did not make any reference to that in my original response anyway. However I have to agree with One Reason about discussing cracks, keygens, etc. Most of this forum is public, so you do not need to be a member to view the topics, and using keywords such as these could cause potential problems with individuals /companies threatening legal action to have the forum closed down. So maybe The Mods could have a list of banned naughty words listed somewhere within rules? or have a private forum (Music Forum for example) where non members cannot access?

Exactly SirSillySausage...exactly. And by the way I didn't have a problem with a thing you said in this thread, I was just attempting to get more information about what was pertaining to me though I did think you were joking.

As you are a mod obviously I wasn't talking to you, I was referring to all those self-important persons who are eager to enforce the rules to push their egos. :bleh:

I may not be a moderator, but my philosophy tends towards moderation. The rule of thumb I try to apply to my life is "Be liberal towards others, conservative towards oneself." It is especially important in This Present Age (with apologies to Soren Kierkegaard). The dystopia of Orwell has come true in a very unusual way. During the Cold War, we thought of Big Brother as some external fascist force impinging itself upon the life of citizens. Social media has turned everyone, including friends, neighbors and coworkers into a virtual thought police where we never know if a casual conversation or voice-mail will end up as the next YouTube viral hit. As one astute observer has put it, "Nowadays, when you say something to someone, you say it to a thousand people." There's nothing wrong with a powerful force as long at it tends towards the good. That being said, I want to thank all of you who contributed to this thread with a level head especially Catalyst. You sound like my kind of guy too.

Well how was I supposed to know that? It came across as a shot at me and I wasn't the only one that thought that. I'm certainly not that type of mod and ego to me is the last thing on my mind...ever. I just don't want to cause any issues for SAiNT and have something happen to the forums because I helped someone crack the protection on one thing or other. In this day and age you never know who's watching. *no*
