Ahh, I'm on PC unfortunately, I did see DIcord 3 and it looked good, but mac only unfortunately!

Yeah, I did look at Melda first (as you say, very tweakable) but I couldn't see anything like that. It's strange that it's not a very popular effect, I'd have expected to find a few more capable of this.

I was going to recommend Sinevibes Dispersion but I see you're on PC. Discord 3 and 4 are both available as Windows VSTs...
Another cool one is Boscomac's Bouncing Ball but this is a Reaktor ensemble. There a few of these in the Reaktor User and Max4Live libraries.

You could also emulate the effect with the delay rate set to ms, some clever automation curves and some LFOing.

If you're at all interested in m4l, the second and fifth post in this thread will help you make one.

All samplers (AFAIK) lets you assign an envelope or LFO to loop length or loop end position.
If you modulate the loop length (loop end position), you get the bouncing ball effect.
Simply put - you don't need a delay (and no need to seach for one). Focus on your sampler of choice.

I might check reaktor out, it's been a while since I've tried it. I don't think automating the curves would work since each delay line that runs separately needs to have it's own increasing speed.

Thanks, I'm trying to do this as a delay effect without repeating a sample, and much like automating the delay time wouldn't work as each separate line needs it's own increasing speed, the same would be needed of a sample, unfortunately.

So you just want to modulate/automate the delay time on a delay?

    Seems so.
I still think you could do it with MDelayMB. But not easy.

No, if I automated the delay time, it would change the entire delay, whereas Bouncy has each individual delay line increase speed independently.

maybe im missing something, but wouldnt automation or envelope modulation work well for this with almost any delay plugin?
is there a reason this is not an option?

    EDIT: just read this reply:
you are probably looking for a multi-tap delay, then automation and/or envelope modulation should work fine

With logic delay designer you can do that and more... but it's AU :dunno:

You can un-sync the delay lines so they don't act as one and automate each separately. D16's Sigmund has a 4-channel delay system and each channel can be set to mono. It has some cool modulation capabilities built in, too. This used to be my delay plug of choice and yet I forgot.

Audiority's Deleight would work too. It has 3 left and 3 right taps that can all be centered and each line can be automated separately. I would try what Baxter suggested because samlpers usually have more modulation capabilities than delays (the good ones, anyways) and that man knows his shit.

Blue Cat Audio Late Replies allow you control the timing of each replies independantly (you can set the grid, control fully their timing), their level, pan, which all can be automated. You can set up to 8 replies, and each reply can have inserted effect included Blue Cat late replies itself.
You can also mess with the feedback timing of the two lines available, also automatable.

Here's the effect I'm going for (of course):

Obviously, this could be done in any number of the ways specified. A delay with an individual rhythm grid would probably be the best for this, but those always seem too locked to notes to be able to get anything as tight as this. A multi-tap is what I'm thinking, but instead of using an envelope that resets, having the vst internally modulate the delays so they become faster on each feedback repeat.

In addition to BCLR you have unfiltered audio Sandman Pro and its multi tap mode (space setting)....But BCLR give you more control.

I'm losing it. Use Massive X. You said delays and I got tunnel vision because I love delays.
Use a performer in Massive X.

Go to here. You said you need to replace your delay. I suggested a synth. I'm tired. I need to sleep.

Why don't you build your own delay with Reaktor?
I think Aphex Twin must use modular synths a lot.

I definitely don't think he used a delay for this, I feel like it's got to be Baxter's idea with the sampler programming.

Dope thread though, I got a tone of nice delay options from it:wink:
