You are wrong. The position number can conflict after several faulty attempts as Kontakt does not accept two or more libraries on the same position.

And the discussion about 5.6.0 vs 5.6.5/6 is very tiresome. Most feedbacks on sistersite have reported crashes with your choice, you are the minority, it does not help.

When soneone reports a problem and needs help, we have to give the most detailed options to avoid at least the known issues/conflicts.

The most likely cause seemed getting the correct nicnt file but there are other circumstances that require a more precise workaround.

    Hi there,
does anyone knows by any chance if there is a way to get Kontakt 6.1 or 6.1.1 installed (and working) on El Capitan (10.11.6) ?
That would save me a lot of time and trouble by avoiding upgrading my Hackintosh to Sierra, High Sierra or Mojave.

    Here's my particular quandary.

I want to move my entire sample library (about 10Tb) to a new raid drive array. However, I don't want to lose my Quickload setup. Is there any way to "point" to the new drive and retain the QL as it currently operates?

In your User Library, under Application Support>Native Instruments>Kontakt there is a Quickload folder. Inside you will find your Quickload Banks, Multis and Instruments but they all contain aliases that point to the original file. You can spend time redirecting those aliases but it would be simpler to recreate your Quickload hierarchy in Kontakt's File Browser.

Sadly you are right Pinkman, and as someone who works on a few different systems, this has been a quandary for me for years... I of course tried copy the Y/AS/NI/Kont/Quickload folder from one system to another... (and my ext 5tb sample drive at the time was a direct clone of the other via CCC) and nope...

It really is kinda a bummer, as I'm sure you know, after all these years of using Kontakt and getting different libraries, (I've been using it since v1...)... it would be nice if you bought a new system or cloned one etc... and didn't lose all those little special patches that you have bookmarked for different reasons... if there was any way to retain that... I would LOVE to know....

Precisely what I was hoping to avoid. Really?
You'd think by now there would be some way to successfully migrate Kontakt libraries and associated Db's. There must be thousands of users attempting to do this.

    Sheesh.

If you use the same folder location and also name the external drive identical from the past, Kontakt should load it just fine.
I don't see why it's not working for you.
If you have instrument patches on your system drive, then you should name the home folder (the name of your computer's account) of your new computer identical to the previous one. Thus it must recognize your quick-loads, again, because the location root is identical.
And that doesn't seem difficult to achieve, if you have total control of that computer and can choose the name of your account)

You know it's been 3 or 4 years since I last tried it myself, and perhaps I made a mistake, but I had two 5,1 cheese graters, and I cloned the system drive from one to the other, and the external drive containing the Kontakt libs etc, both at the time were named identical or whatnot. It didn't work. I could have done something wrong. (always a chance of that!)

I will give it a try again at some point... are you saying as long as the user name/login etc and the user name of the user folder etc are identical, I should be able to transport quick load settings from one system to another, regardless if the volumes are different? If so, that would be fantastic.. as I have ~4 working systems at a time, and been using Kontakt since day 1, and each of my systems have different quick load folders etc, would be nice to pick one that either best represented what I liked, or (i forget if it is a .plist or what kind of file) edit/combine them... I could imagine there might be some issues with locating some Kontakt instruments etc, and I wonder if "search filesystem" would mitigate that or whatnot...

    but thanks for chiming in!

If the libraries are on an external drive and/or on any internal drive but none of them on the system drive's user specific subfolders like Documents, Downloads etc., you don't even need to match the user's name on those computers, only the drive's name and identical location root. As Quick-load functions on mac the way as making aliases in Finder. If the original location's name is correct (matches), it doesn't matter what size or brand or connection that external drive has.
However, all of these doesn't mean that you don't have to add those libraries on each system. I didn't touch this aspect because you asked about quick-load but don't forget that the usual adding process should be done for those libraries that require it, before you want to try your quick-load method. Or you can try simply copying the library-related .xml files from one machines Service Center folder, and the .plist files that start with com.native-instruments. and ends with the name of those libraries. These .plist files exist in Library/Preferences and also in Users/yourusername/Preferences. And if you decide to copy them, it would only work if there were no other added libraries before the copying, as it would conflict in the UserListIndex number if there are more than one with the same number.

    Hi Introninja,

I Added the library in Kontakt 5.6.0 then i get the message:

"ASCEND Modern Grand.nki" could not be loaded.

The file format is not supported or corrupt."

when i try again it says:

'Ascend Modern Grand' already exists within the Kontakt Libraries tab

When i try to add it in kontakt 6.2.0 it says:
This instrument belongs to a library that is currently not installed.

I would be very happy if you had a solution!!
    Best wishes, hh

Did you checked that the SNPID matches : the one from NICNT (in the library folder) ANd from XML file in Service Center ?

It can be caused by a badly executed decompression.
And you get the other warning message correctly when you try to add the library again.
If you are on mac, use Keka to decompress files. (I use BetterZip that most of the time also works but Keka is better and free)

its working. before i used k5.5.1, but i found a working 6.0.3 install (plus a 6.0.4update) with a 5.6.0 standalone Version to add the samples. Installation is flawless.

thinking about udating my os to high sierra so i can use > 6.1.x Version, but when i install osx high sierra a flash update will also happens and that instantly will do something with my ilok plugins....

yeah, i just updated finally on one machine from Mavericks to Sierra myself (didn't want to mess with the new filing system of High Sierra yet...).. and I haven't updated my Kontakt from 5.5.2 yet... I have dl'd the same package as you, and was thinking of doing it soon, glad to know it works.

Hell, I don't even have the new NI activation center or whatever it is called, I still have Service Center, so I'm a little cautious as I don't wanna bonk different things...
