It must be sampled. Some sampled guitar VSTis/Kontakt libs have pick scrape samples. I don't remember anyone having a pick scrape slide articulation, but a bunch of samples. It would hugely raise the size unnecessarily.

The good news is that bunch is enough, since its variety is quite limited (a kind of exciting intro to the next guitar part, which I totally love as a metal-head).

This is one of my first experiments with Prominy V-Metal (Kontakt lib) and you can hear it after a couple seconds. You just pick one and cut the end/start depending of your needs and sounds quite good.

If you can record it just drag and drop fx wav files here. We can trigger the sound with midi. :shalom:

I think @Niruvana , like me, he's a VSTis only user, meaning he can't easily record his own samples.
That being said, if he wants to use the pick scrape samples of a Kontakt lib like the one I showed along with his favorite VSTi guitar, a sampler would do the trick.
I'd be happy to provide them, and with a bit of eq matching they would blend nicely.

You are right. Although I have a guitar, I can't easily record it now.

Great! But I am wondering if it applies to the special effect like pick scrape as it is not just a note.

There's a few VIs and Kontakt libraries that can do this (most of them, actually; even my old Korg X5-D keyboard had a couple of slide noises on it). They just released Musiclab RealLPC 5 over on the sister site, though all the Musiclab VIs have just about all the slide/guitar noise samples you could ever need -- long, short, varied, etc. Vir2 Electri6ity for Kontakt has 'em for every instrument. Orange Tree's libraries, Prominy's libraries, Big Fish Audio's Goth, Shreddage's libraries, EastWest PLAY's Ministry of Rock 1 and 2. There's also just .wav libraries, like Amp Artefacts, that have a ton of feedback and guitar scrape noises. Pretty easy to find.

you can do it manually on any instrument
    1. create bpm automations and volume automations on the sections which you like for example your track on 120bpm
you chose the sections which you like , then put the bpm up with automatons to higher bpm

    2. the second automatons you put on the volume down in the same sections
then you bounce in place the instrument which you working , remove the automatons if you not need it any more

    3. or you can do it with bpm with a stretch the sample !
    job done !

I think you are talking about regular slide sound/noises.
The OP asks for pick scrape slide noises. It's a different beast, the original DI sound I mean.

Real and respected (not snobbish for instance) guitarist here

@Niruvana , why don't you tell us what guitar VSTi are you using? Or if you want to use real recorded guitar (yours or others tracks) and so on. If not, there's too many variables

I know exactly what he was talking about, as referenced in both of the audio tracks he provided -- that's why I recommended those libraries. As I stated about, RealLPC/RealStrat both have extensive pick scrapes and slides (I look for those in any electric guitar library I pick up), including at least one that goes on for almost a full measure. In fact, you can access the scrapes/slides via keyswitch and there's a ton of them for either instrument (probably the most you'll find on any electric guitar VI). They're also DI instruments.

Shreddge 3 Legacy, just released on the sister site today, also has a bunch of pick/fret slides. You might wanna hold off on downloading it, though -- I had a few issues with it when I tried installing it.

I was wrong then. It's very surprising considering their small sample size (about 1,3GB compressed size in the last v5 releases). I wonder how they do it.

And yeah, Shreddage guitars have quite a few pick scrape sounds. I haven't tested v3 versions thoroughly but the ones with v2 version (all but Stratus and Archtop I think) have the same sample set. So Shreddage Classic for Shreddage 2 should do the trick while we wait for the update.

I think all of Shreddage 3 guitars have the same articulations. For me, Serpent sounds great.

You don't actually know what a pick scrape is, don't you? :deep_facepalm:

It's not a "slide" and it's not something you can program a midi instrument to do, you need an actual sample of it, which as mentioned above some sample libraries have.
