Can't remember but pretty sure it was so I could beat them in videogames. Seeing this kid explain his process of slapping things together effortlessly after I spent ample hours grinding on a new track implementing techniques that took a lifetime gave me some bad gas. I hear the kids are into those sounds though so fingers crossed on my new bassy material.

Btw this was clearly a marketing scheme. A recognized vocalist received a beat befitting his style and gave a back-story that could help the song go viral. Otherwise there is no way an established artist would use a nobody's track.

I have nothing against new genres of music. I can listen to Chopin (check prelude in C minor, it has amazing structure of the song), djent bands like Monuments (my favourite), trip hop (Archive's Axiom is a great album), synthwave (check Perturbator's "Future Club") or game/movie soundtracks (e.g., Nier: Automata), whatever. It doesn't matter, as long as the music is good. But this song isn't good. And the fact it got famous doesn't change that. I believe that's the point of other people, too.

Selling records doesn't make your music good. There were many experiments that prove that. For example, I remember there was one where people were broadcasting classical music (Mozart, I believe) multiple times a day during "hot hours" in the standard, pop radio. Guess what happened? Suddenly, sales of Mozart records tripled.

If big record companies would feed you with doom metal all day you would hate on people listening to pop, rap or any other genres that would become "niche".

    Food for thought: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5374342/.

The music got objectively shittier, but it sells, because it's aggressively promoted. Learn how to step back and look at things objectively, from the distance. Or don't, and keep eating opium for the masses.

HipHop beats are hit or miss. However you make it, if it sounds dope, it will be a hit how shit the melody or layering is. There are 1000s of beats on the internet and most of the beatmakers are newbies but still want to get famous. Even newbie rappers are getting famous. But that is only until hiphop stays popular like progressive/big room was in 2010-14. After that most of the chart toppers will disappear like magic. The good ones will stay tho. It is much easier to make a fire beat than say an EDM hit. Now this kid is famous but look at his popularity after 2-3 months

It's terrible. Like really really bad.

No, it's not jealously. I don't want a hit record or song and I don't want to be famous ever. Being famous is my worst nightmare. I don't even want people to know who I am. Look at my stupid name and avatar, it's the furthest thing from the real me. I hate feet.

It just really sucks IMO, and that's OK. We're all allowed to think songs (things in general) suck. I'm sure he thinks something sucks too.
