David Sylvian and Holger Czukay - Plight (The Spiraling of Winter Ghosts)
It has been a standard at home, I mean this and Music for Airports (Eno)
I grew up on this (that´s deep, deep memories)

Hey man, thanks for your video. Don't worry about anybody having problems with any kind of music here, if they don't like it they don't have to watch it. This is for professional audio lovers not haters. How come you posted it here instead of in Part 2 which is dedicated to electronic music? If it wouldn't be too much trouble I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't mind reposting it there. Thanks.

Hehe..no problem. Why I posted it here Hmm, because this thread is about 80s Brian Eno etc...And I thought this more fits here than in the "Electronic, Electronic Jazz, Rave, Techno, D&B" section ... even the documentation is more about electronic and synth bands,

Yeah I see where you're coming from, I guess when this started we didn't have plans to think ahead like that. It was like a spontaneous combustion of awesomeness that took on a life of it's own. Really these threads were all born from videos and conversations about Brian Eno but then when we started getting into other types of music SAiNT moved us to a separate thread. I have actually already extended Part 1 beyond the 80s and eventually we might rename the thread or something. My worry is that if people start posting electronic related stuff in here it will just become a jumble of genres. I don't know what does everyone think?

@Catalyst...No matter which threat was intended for what reason ever..Now I posted it also in the other one yo mentioned. By the way...this documentary is worth to be watched by everyone who is interested in electronic music, alternative or simply 80's stuff. And not at last also Brian Eno and Brian Ferry appears in it!

Ambient sounded so much better in those days. All I hear now are boring drones, overproduced, too much midrange, no space, no details, no imagination.

Spiraling ghosts sounds like it was recorded live using a Decca tree. The room acoustics are very interesting. The sound is very reminiscent of the Vienna Golden Hall. Listen to that organ point, very 2001 Zarathustra. It sounds as though it was recorded in a room with very high ceilings.

I just had to google it, and see! EMT Gold Hall.

Native Instruments. EMT or Quantec emu. Now!

The truth is, it sounds magic because it is. Music is a very mysterious thing.

For me the essential thing is the way tracks were progressing into sonic-subtle dreamscapes with a point of electricity (let´s say contemporary world)
quite present in David Sylvian and Holger Czukay work
    Currently I don´t listen to too much ambient...so I can´t tell.
I remember from vynil the fuzzy sound at home
I guess my mind is set by those early experiences with the genre so I don´t feel hunger for more.

Yes like spacious static electricity or a certain graininess? Dust dancing in the sun? That's a quality I like. It's the reason I like some reverbs and others not so much, based on purely subjective impressions.

Me too. I really like the reverbs that Native Instruments developed in collaboration with Softube (RC24 and RC48). Absolutely stunning in my honest opinion. :grooves:

Good morning/afternoon fellow Audiosexers. This is Catalyst with some tracks to keep you going out there today. Enjoy:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2RCytDy_Vg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4xMR7mYPWU
When you hear the way the others talk
Makes you wonder what they bothered for
When you see the way opinion swings
It makes you strive, strive, strive for greater things

I wasn't born to be good enough for you
I am here to be nobody's fool
When you see the way that loose lips talk
It makes you cry, cry, cry for it all to stop

I would like to invite you
To my mother's house, to my bedroom
To play those old records we know all the words to
I would like you to kiss me, crush me, to lick me

Till I beg you to stop
    Till you drive me crazy
Till I want you to stop
    Till you drive me crazy
Till I beg you to stop
    Till you drive me crazy

    That's all it takes
    A subtle movement
    That's all it takes
    To make the program

When you hear the way loose lips talk
It makes you wonder what you bothered for
When you see the way opinion swings
It makes you strive, strive, strive for greater things

    That's all it takes
    A subtle movement
    That's all it takes
    To make the program

    A subtle movement
    To make the program
    A subtle movement
    To make the program

    A subtle movement
    To make the program
    A subtle movement
    To make the program
    A subtle movement

    Another smile on my face…
I´ll check this stuff…I´ll try to appreciate the graininess while adding reverb

Now we can have everything perfected, we're beginnng to realise that it's actually the glitches and grit, the wonk and fut, that delight. In other words, what were considered imperfections can now be seen as qualites (John Foxx).

Catalyst here to class things up just in time for the weekend. What's going to happen if we slip into something like this?...Ooh that's nice. *yes* :dancing: *yes*
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObBXb4f0hPU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VYctB9SdaY
Then let's move on to one of my favorite House Of Love tracks. Indeed:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rx0Mw1rfTa0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTeAEY1CbYI
I love the two versions of this next track:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DjHKqb365A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojK_yOcC-Mw
    All those dirty words
They make us look so dumb
    Been drinking far too much
And neither of us mean what we say

    Well you and I
    Collapsed in love
And it looks like we might have made it
Yes it looks like we've made it to the end

    What happened to us?
Soon it will be gone forever
    Infatuated only with ourselves
And neither of us can think straight anymore

    Well you and I
    Collapsed in love
And it looks like we might have made it
Yes it looks like we've made it to the end

    When you and I
    Collapsed in love
And it looks like we might have made it
Yes it looks like we've made it to the end

    Well you and I, [Incomprehensible]
    Collapsed in love
And it looks like we might have made it
Yes it looks like we've made it to the end
All the way till the end

    Perhaps [Inauduble]
    Perhaps
    There might be some
    They might be feeling
Or want somewhere to run away, far away

Slip into the weekend with my next few selections that will have you enjoying the process that much more:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZhbh-wSIlw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tgcc5V9Hu3g
This is so my song and I like to crank it nice and loud:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8J6FvzcTgs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHTcSLTJ1JE
    It's nice to be dead
    It's nice to be underground
    Free of the ugly sounds
    Of life

    It's nice to be dead
    Nice to be understood
    No need for being good
    That's nice

    Hey

    They say it's cynical
    To elevate the physical
    So tell me, godless god
Then why are these people clods
    Causing the earth
    To fry
    Fry

    It's nice to be dead

    Life's river flows
And when it's dry, it's dry
    I can't support the lies
    That bind me
    It's nice to be dead
    Nice to be dead
    It's nice to be dead

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lhPQfvVx5Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XW7Sw-watvM
    Cover up your windows
    Close up all the doors
Time has come for me to really shine
Pick myself up off the floor
    Things that'll make yourself cry
Can be tied above the well
    Helplessly withering away
    But I'll never ever tell
Run run away run run away
'Cause there's nothing left to say
Got no one to talk to
Leave me alone, I'm happy to die today
Run run away run run away
Cause there's nothing left to say
Oh, the travel always gets me
Get in the car and drive it all over me
    Cruelty in the winter
    Happy when you're down
    Pulling faces running after me
    And we're sleeping underground
I didn't mean to hurt you
Didn't mean to make you sad
    Wandering through all the memories
Of the good times that we had
    Welcome to the fun time
    We're so happy here
We've no minds, we might as well be blind
    We can lie together here
You can come down and join us
    You're more than welcome to
Even though it's painful to the ears
But it might not all be true
