i sliced a lot of breaks in the last time and it drives me crazy that i cant set Ableton to actual use one shot mode inside the drum rack for every simpler. i tried to set the simpler to one shot mode, but its still the same.
most of the breaks have like 15-20 slices and going through all of them to click on "one shot" mode is just stupid.

    hope somebody knows something ...

I agree my friend, last time I did what you did, I had to do the same, and its an arduous process for sure.... I thought there was some way to select all, hmmm...

perhaps if you make your default drum rack or whatnot set to "one shot" and save it as default (like you can save any of their stock plugs in a certain state as default so every time you instantiate them they are 'that' (e.g.: low end roll off on EQ8 or something), when you do slice breaks or whatnot, it might create every cell as a one shot.... i would try that first...

My drum racks do this. Do what @sisyphus said but with a single instance of Simpler. RIght-click on it's header and save as default preset. Now if you drag and drop a sample/samples onto Drum Rack cells, they will all be set to One-Shot. If this is not behaving this way for you, I would open the Live Browser and check in your User Library > Defaults > Dropping Samples and Slicing folders. You may have devices here that are overriding the default behaviour.
Oops. I overlooked the "to MIDI" part.

You can save a Drum Rack with empty Simplers all set to One-Shot in Slicing defaults. Then you can select the slicing preset when you Slice to MIDI. Again, as @sisyphus said. I believe at some point, I also set one Simpler on an empty Drum Rack pad, right-clicked the pad and 'Set as Default Pad'.

is this a parameter that cant be copied to siblings? I don’t know if I’ve ever had to try that

I'm not in front of it right now Cav Emp, but yeah, good call, I don't know why it couldn't be 'copied to siblings', but I haven't tried that myself...but Ableton does have some weird quirks at times on things that are head scratching...

Only thing I could think of is maybe because the ui of simpler gives me the impression that the one shot vs classic buttons might not have the same context menu options as a more standard parameter. I’m totally guessing though, i won’t be home for a few more hours

I think copy to siblings needs to be enabled in options.txt. So maybe artic doesn’t have it on, but I’d be surprised. It’s one of the more useful ones that you can manually enable

@Cav Emp From what I've seen, you can only copy parameter settings to siblings. These are things that can be modulated/automated. Not device settings. I hope someone can prove me wrong here.

Cool Artic, yeah, I agree with Pinkman in that thinking about it, the "copy to siblings" even if enabled via the options.txt won't work on that, as it's not the same kind of parameter setting but rather different toggles on the gui. (at least I think, i hope I am wrong, as that would be a good solution), but I am 99.99% sure what Pinkman and I were suggesting in saving a preset or a default of one in which every cell is set to one shot and saving it to your ableton library will make this a one time aggravation of just making one empty cell that, and copying to other cells, or whatnot... and just make sure the preset(probably best set to your default if you are doing this a lot, or you can always just toggle what the "default" is on simpler, and you should be good to go.... cause yeah, I have imported quite a few similar things in the past like say old Akai libraries I had from the S1100 days, or Samplecell stuff, and just had to do the same thing, and it is a pita having to go through every cell and click on that and whatnot absolutely agreed...

nothing of the ideas is working. copy to siblings does not exist for the playback method, it exists for everything else in the simpler. :deep_facepalm:

default preseting for drum rack doesnt work either, same for setting the play mode in simpler. :deep_facepalm::deep_facepalm::wtf:

Weird. It works for me. Try this: Take an empty Drum-Rack and drop a Simpler on C1 pad set to One-Shot with whatever adjusted parameters you need.
Drag the entire Drum-Rack into User Library>Defaults>Slicing.
Select your sample and choose Slice to New MIDI Track.
In the slicing pop-up window you have the ability to select the slicing preset and you should be able to select the Drum-Rack that you have just saved.

Again, this does work for me. I usually have my Simpler make slices but I just went through this procedure with it set to One-Shot to make sure and it should work.

    Good luck, my friend.

Again agreed with @Pinkman, I tried something similar yesterday (sorry not much more help right now @ArticStorm as I just kinda temp moved 5600 miles and only brought a subset of my studio with me (3 way international move, pita believe me, especially with a pet! :) ), but I was doing the opposite. I had a bunch of samples that I wanted in 'classic' mode that I made back in the days of sound designer II (pre Protools Digidesign 2 track editing software) and running kicks and snares through guitar amps and different preamps and whatnot, and I wanted to lay them out in a drum rack.. so I did as Pinkman suggested above^^, and it worked... I am still on Ableton 9.7.1 I believe as need to OS X update use 10, (going to a quad boot system ! face palm)...

but you should be able to get there! I do agree that having some options not being able to be mapped to siblings is annoying, I love Ableton, but I call it my favorite "instrument" rather then DAW, as so many times (especially working with picture or whatnot), I have to export to PT or whatnot.. but for writing, the fluidity and the fact the time and tuning are so fungible, and the speed at which you can accomplish things, it's hard to beat..... but there are so many obvious things they should add (from hiding tracks to playlists to comping etc etc, it can be frustrating when new updates add features or instruments or fx that I could care less about, and not having simple functions that I have been used to since the Opcode Vision days, ....argh...

Let us know if you get it sussed Artic, if not, we will find a way my friend! :)

@Pinkman , completely. While the music I make is not edm or whatnot (well, I guess I jump genres a lot as necessity in scoring or writing for other artists and producing), as I generally am a hybrid electronic/real instrument guy... I had the first push until it was stolen, and have been meaning to get a Push 2 for some time now, as it really seems to open up workflow in terms of efficiency of time and lends itself to other ways and paradigms of work (which is always refreshing as I have been doing this too long ;), from back in the Opcode Vision days etc... ) From reading your posts it seems you have been at it a long time as well, and obviously are well learned at a wide range of tools and production concepts and ideas, as I see you helping out tons of members here with well thought out and well detailed responses...

whenever I see your answer in a thread I always think, well, 'thread closed' then, as you always nail it. :like::bow:.
