Alright, people who are smarter than me, what am I doing wrong?

If i turn on Neutron and run the Neutron app, it works fine. I get oscillator tuning readings, flipping a switch in the app causes a corresponding change on the synth, etc.

If I start Live with the Neutron app open, Neutron is orange (unavailable) in Live's midi control panel. If I close the Neutron app, I can send midi to Neutron from Live again

Reopen the app while using Neutron with Live, the Neutron app doesn't function. Restart neutron while the app is open, the app starts working but then Live can't send midi to the hardware.

I can't imagine it's meant to be like this right? You should be able to run them together I imagine. Any ideas? I'm gonna write to support but in the meantime maybe someone has some suggestions.

    Edit- windows 10 pro btw

Win32 MME or DirectMusic APIs are not multi-client.

so your options would be use the usb connection for the editor as it probably both sends and revives midi from the neutron and a 5 pin din midi cable for sequencing from ableton. (assuming you got one free on your setup)

get the midi messages that the editor sends and make a max4live editor or see if someone has made one.

make or see if someone has made a vst editor in the likes of http://ctrlr.org/

or hope you can get somthing like http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html to patch the apps together but i don't have much hope for that though.

also i suspect Behringer will say they cant do anything and state to do my first suggestion.

Oh. that's annoying but at least I know now. Thanks

Biggest pain in the ass is that I'm running out of USB ports. I used to have a midi cable and midi converter like 10 years ago but I haven't even needed one since USB became so ubiquitous. Idk if I still have the cable. Damn.

I do have loopmidi and use it to run Push 2 in cubase sometimes. Maybe I can take a crack at it

i used to have same issue with deepmind app...i would open the app then ableton...9 times out of 10 would work....dont know if same for neutron, i would still run deepmind via external instrument via midi but use usb for the app?

as audioplg said in a way

yeah opening the app before live makes the app work but makes it so Live can't communicate with neutron. And vice versa when I open Live first. Since Neutron doesn't have a keyboard, I currently have to send midi via Push and can't really use it at all, save for with the VCA bias (latch basically) if I'm running the app. No big deal, I'll just get some midi i/o to connect synths via usb.

There's not much you can do with the app that you can't just do with the buttons on the synth, it's just less intuitive. I'll be fine :)

    Yeah, Live 10

I don't really need any of it. I'm pretty sure almost everything that can be done from the app can also be done with some combination of holding one button and pressing another. It's just a matter of convenience. The app does let you do certain things like change the order of LFO shapes, which might be handy for certain modulations but it's not that big of a deal. Not worth fretting over. I've got a midi interface and cables on the way so hopefully I can use that to circumvent this problem. Or just midi out directly from another keyboard to the neutron
