    That's not the point.

    ... is bullshit.

.. are what I try to avoid. I've more fun to mess it up myself. [IMG]

Nope, I don't do gain staging. [IMG]

You'll need a 'brain' and unless you save different presets or A/B versions, you'll need five little steps to get from A to B and all of them change the sound.

    Unfunny, overbearing and wrong.
I discovered the benefit of saturation round about 20 years ago and you?

All 4 buttons pressed on an LA-4 emu. That's an oldie but a goodie. :guru:

If I understand it, I think he's talking about using an eq rather than a compressor.
Can be an invert phase to isolate an eq saturation and then re-inject it into the original signal ?

ok, just to sum up the findings so far:

    - You have inserted an analog eq emulation on an parrallel aux
    - you have set a high-pass filter
    - you have set a low-pass filter

    - You did not use bell- or shelving-filters
    - You have not touched any gain- or saturation knob that adds extra harmonics
    - You have not flipped the polarity
    - You have not changed the input level standard (mic / line)

    Is that correct?

Did you parrallel an eq and boost the input gain on it, boosting harmonics? Especially with an SSL style eq?

    Yep, just an eq.

    - inserted an eq, yes, parallel, no, eq is active in both versions
    - LP and HP for B, yes
    - I did not raise any bell bands :winker:
    - I didn't change gain or harmonics for B :winker:
    - no polarity or input changes for A or B

my ears and subsequent measurements tell me that saturation has been used and some stated frequency ranges are more present. the increased volume in these areas could be caused by saturation or by phase behavior, but who knows?
a gentle tilt could also lead to similar results. but without knowing the emulated device, it's hard to say, since we don't know the available options that you had.

@KungPaoFist and @shankar it's not a special technique but a special behaviour of this plugin.

    Correct, cause and
    effect. :winker:

Phase behaviour? I didn't measure, but I don't think so.

    No tilt added by me.

I had the options of a pretty normal analogue emu eq: HP, LP, low shelf, two mid bells, high shelf, saturation.

    Hi, No Avenger,
You did not answer my question earlier :
Can be an invert phase to isolate an eq saturation and then re-inject it into the original signal ?
This will be my last question.
After I can die in peace
