    Hi folks,
    i need your expertise:
Macbook Pro 2011 collapsed due to greyscreen boot issue...twice!! Now wrecked.
Budget is low, so i choose to buy an old refurbished Imac late 2013.
Does any1 have any issues with this?
    Is it ok for musicproduction?
I just need a few synths , eqs & stuff, no big deal.
Help me out please if u know something!

If just a few VSTi's and simple plugins a 2013 Imac should do the trick. Just don't go past Sierra. And if you can afford an SSD internal or External you'll be happier.

No high sierra? If i buy one with HSierra installed, can i even downgrade?
Thx for putting me onto that?

Edit: Saw it is possible to downgrade, but not that easy. So i make clear to buy one not higher than sierra version, appreciated

you could go high sierra and test out the performance on the Imac. If you dont like it you can downgrade - if you find a copy of Sierra and make a fresh install from external device. Most Defiantly Mojave sucks in my experience with older machines.

Here‘s the task: about 500 euro , refurbished welcome, capable of using few synths, eqs comps n stuff, just basics. No gimmicks, solution with integrated screen. If not older imac, which win system?

Unless you are a fullsail student, grow up. Mac's are over priced computer's for people who shouldn't ever do anything actually technical with them. I grew up with a mother that worked for apple since before they were even allowed to make release win 3.1 because of gui copyright in the 80's.

Point is what the other's have said it's overpriced crap. Get a pc, get the few programs you need to transfer the stuff to a mac if collabing or your work for a company that has a mac enviroment. But wanting a mac for music is laughable to anyone with any real knowledge. And the change of a few DPI doesn't make it any better for design either. Mac's are a scam at this point. All "IProducts" are.

So your toy broke, get something real don't go back to buying another toy for 4-5x the cost of what is actually needed and gives you a million more options. Anything a mac can do Windows has it, or has better and at a 1/10th of the price.

Personallly I hate going to work and using mac's and pro tools. They both suck I use Windows and FL Studio or Studio One or Reaper at home and just export to go into that work enviroment. It would take 2-4x longer to get ANYTHING done on a mac than a windows.

So yeah time to put the IToys away and get something real.

Thx for the input guys, i will consider it all. Not sure what to do, but im a bit stupid to ask in a mac subforum for win alternatives for an imac.

    boring

A - not much money but lots of will (pc-win-linux-atari-used stuff etc ect)

B - son of your dad, quite a lot of $$$, expect to buy the best stuff to be #1 with no effort (Mac-Icrap-Pineapple)

if you are A go for A, if you are B go for B.
