system requirements for both Loom and Vacuum Pro are:

    Mac

OS X Version 10.7.5 or higher
Core Duo Processor, Core i5 or i7 Recommended
Minimum RAM 1GB, 2GB or more Recommended
1GB free hard drive space (Download and Installation)
A VST64, AU64 or RTAS compatible host application*
    Internet Access (Download and Authorization)

I still use Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 so... guess no chance to use this, right?

thanks for your reaction but I think I'm using 64-bit mode... right?

here take a look at my system overview... still no way to use it, right?

BY THE WAY, do you guys think it's time to upgrade to the newest OS X?
I really like how everything is flowing on my good ol' Snow Leopard, but I guess more plugins will have likewise system requirements in the near future, right?

The only way to find out is to install a demo. Some software states 10.7+ but will still run on 10.6. NI for instance. Of course there's no guarantee that something will break eventually come an update.

Compiled-for-64bit-software will run in 64 bit by default (even if Snow Leopard is booted into a 32-bit Kernel) unless you check 'Open in 32-bit mode' via the Get Info window. Highlight then cmd+i.

Since 2010 machines can boot into 64 bit by default, if the hardware allows it and if you have 64-bit capable EFI. It says 64-bit Kernel and Extensions "Yes" in your System Software Overview, so you're 64-bit capable.

    Open Terminal, and type
    Code:
    uname -m
If it returns "i386" you're booted in 32-bit mode. If it returns "x86_64" you're in 64-bit. You could permanently have the machine boot into 64-bit, but there are some disadvantages. You'd loose the ability to run 32-bit software. 64-bit software will take advantage of the larger address space even if you're booted into 32-bit. No need to change really.

I think one advantage of Snow Leopard is that is gives you an option to run older 32-bit software. Can't do that on 10.7+ or 10.8+ as far as I'm aware.

10.8 Performance exceeds that of all previous systems.

True (for 3D) if you give it enough RAM (16GB), and perhaps an SSD. It is pretty taxing on older hardware.

    Unigine Heaven 2560x1440 18.5 vs 19.4
    Unigine Heaven 1440x900 43.4 vs 46.8
    Maxon CineBench 19.0 vs 48.1
    NovaBench 993 vs 1443

    Test 1 - Unigine Heaven 3.0, Shaders high, 2x antialiasing, anisotropy 2x, 2560x1440
    Test 2 - Unigine Heaven 3.0, Shaders high, 2x antialiasing, anisotropy 2x, 1440x900
Test 3 - Maxon Cinebench 11.5 OpenGL test
    Test 4 - NovaBench 1.1

    Machine used: iMac 27 "mid2011, i7 3.4 Ghz, 16GB RAM, Radeon HD 6970M 2GB.

External Firewire disk, not internal SSD as I understand it (Google Translate)

I'm still in no rush to change over.

All anecdotal of course and you can do your own reading.
