    Hello, so after numerous hours of sickening headache from trying to get Kontakt to finally work (yes, I've never been able to get it to work and have given up several times in the past) I have created an account for the purpose of posting this very thread (who knows, I might even stay).
    I'm very sorry if my exact issue was already thoroughly covered somewhere(in which case I would like to kindly ask for directions), though I was unable to find any solution that would help me out.
    I'm already aware that this is the most common issue that comes up time and time again and from what I've seen it appears that the answer is case dependent.
    Now, my specific case is:
    I installed Kontakt 6.1.1 Portable (that I got off of rutracker.org) on Windows 7;
    Added a Spitfire Iceni library via Library Manager.
    The library shows up on the left side panel just fine.
    However, it always keeps showing me that annoying damned error whenever I try to use it:
    "THIS INSTRUMENT BELONGS TO A LIBRARY THAT IS CURRENTLY NOT INSTALLED".
    It won't work no matter what! I've tried deleting all the relevant registry keys, reinstalling Kontakt, using a different version and nothing works! This nightmare just won't go away.
    I feel like I'm on a verge of madness here, can someone please help?
    There is no NICNT file of any kind anywhere to be found, from what I've read on here it seems to be of major importance...

    It would be helpful if you stated the Iceni version/release. AFAIK the latest "shared" version was 2.1 (from 2014). And as you say it doesn't contain .nicnt file, I guess that's the version you are using (not the 2.4+ from 2018+).

    If you have the the .nkr - resource file, .nkx - protected monolith and the two respective .nkc - kontakt cache files (in all, 4 files in the main library directory, it should register just fine. No need for the nicnt). In fact it does, if it shows on the left pane. I checked and it loads instruments w/o error..

    Do you have problems with other libs? To me it seems like a messed up library, not the Kontakt. The portable version also doesn't have anything to do w/ your registry. Sorry I can't be of more help, but at least I can tell you the problem is somewhere on your side.

    The xml file says it's v1.0.9;
    The main folder has: iceni.nkc; iceni.nkr; Iceni.xml; Iceni_info.nkc; Iceni_info.nkx;
    Then it has the 4 sub-folders: info (with just the wallpaper); Instruments (with more sub-folders, full of *.nki files); multis (same deal but with *.nkm) and samples (*.nkc and *.nkx)
    I hope any of this info helps.
    I'm still trying to download a Spitfire HZ02 Hanz Zimmer Los Angeles library (it's so huge it takes me days), I'll test that one out as well...

    Thanks, but it doesn't say "library content not found", it shows up just fine, wallpaper and all... Just whenever I try to load anything from it I get that damned error...

    Update: alright, I actually found a newer version of Iceni (2.1), so going to try that out and see if the problem goes away.
    @rah if I can get it to work I'll be sure to PM you.

    I very much hope so... in the meantime I've installed a Cinematic Studio Piano library and it works just fine, so it seems like the old Iceni library was faulty after all... :)

    Open the notepad, and paste this:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Iceni]
    "HU" = "CF2FE4A3ACC6C43BD7E3320C834FD8A2"
    "JDX" = "B4BFF8A10CF905B07F7F038796A20D054F205C29FDDA23A9F01E80831D831D7F"

    Save as Fix.reg. Double click. It should work, but perhaps you'll still need to clean the native access xml file or some registry entry.

    Thank You, but I have already deleted the old library to save space, while waiting for the newer version to download.. But if the newer version of doesn't work for some reason I will try your method :)
    However, it seems like a different one I installed works just fine, so who knows, maybe there won't be any need to do anything additional. After all TaxiDriver said that the portable version doesn't have anything to do with the registry...
    I will make another update after I try the new library.

    You're welcome. If you have to download again, go for the newer. Cheers ;-)

    Also, I didn't know the portable version doesn't deal with the registry.

    PS. That fix only works with the old one AFAIK.
