That 2TB drive is much better yes. If you are just using normal Kontakt libraries like NI stuff then it'll be ok. SSD's for samples are always the way, but you can add those later depending on your workflow.

When I mean say heavy Kontakt, I mean multiple instances of Cinematic Studio Strings, Spitfire Audio x 10, Cerberus drums, Damage, vocal libs in one project. Otherwise you'll be good to go

    Also, don't forget backups.
Get some backup software like Acronis.
Buy a cheap ass HDD for backups, don't worry about specs as it's only a backup drive. Even an external usb drive... anything.

1hr spent setting up your backups saves you hours and hours down the line :like:

I'd get a dedicated audio interface. I'm on Mac, so one of the FL Studio Windows guys here should be able to recommend something.

I read that somebody recommended to put Kontakt libraries on a separate hard disc. This is indeed a good thing to do, but some libraries are very big and load much quicker when they are stored on an internal SSD, than an external SSD or external HDD. I have a 250GB SSD for my DAW and software. Then I have another internal SDD of 500gb with music files, my drum sample library, some heavy libraries, which take too long to load on an external drive. Examples are Omnisphere 2 files, Strezov Sampling Freyja/Wotan/Arva, Addictive Drums 2, and some other libraries that I frequently use and I just want to load as quick as possible for the sake of work flow.

No, check the Avg User Bench.
    slightly better.
    https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Ryzen-7-3800X-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-3700X/4047vs4043

On this site you can check the reason why you are not a clever dude if you buy a 9700k over an 3700x/3800x. Yes the intel has 2 or 4 % more single core speed. But the ryzens got +30% Avg. Multi Core Mixed Speed compared to the intel equivalent.

Well my plan right now is to get AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9 GHz 36MB instead of intel. And high multicore speed is good for fl studio right? Its not just single core?

Single-core is more important for DAW work, but a lot of VSTs benefit from multicore performance. I can assure you it is better to have 30 % better multicore performance than a 3% better single-core performance. For any common Pc task. Whether it is gaming, surfing the web or more specific things like daw work or rendering. The ryzen 7 entry-mid-level beats the Intel I 7 in terms of price and CPU power by far. If you go for an I9 it is another story.

Seriously, don't get too hung up on specs. Take the advice above and buy what you can budget for.
But an audio card, a must.
Most of the time a musicians PC is doing 4% workload, as you are too busy in piano roll working out a melody or chord progression whilst banging your head against a wall! Mixdown is another story... but you have to get there first.

I'm still rocking a 2009 Mac Pro and CPU performance is my last worry.

it's pretty close to my pc!
here are the differences with mine:
    i7 8700k
    Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra
    Samsung 970 EVO NVMe SSD, PCIe 3.0 M.2 Type 2280 - 2 TB
    G.Skill Trident Z Series Silver/Red, DDR4-3000, CL14 - 32 GB Dual Kit

    Dear audnord
i would like to mention that as i know (i hope i'm not mistaken) the ASUS PRIME Z390-A just support the BGA 413 processors (Socket)
and intel i7 9700F is LGA 1151 socket!

I didn't read the full thread but if no one said before, don't buy the 860 QVO.

It's ok for its value but it's way slower than the EVO and also doen't have such a nice TBW like an EVO.
Samsung EVO's are at a nice low price atm. Almost the same as the QVO. Lat week I bought an
2TB 860 EVO for 250€ cause my HDD was about to crash very soon.

The QVO's are good for storage of Libraries and Games but nothing more. Just pay 10-20% more and you
get an SSD that works for the next 10 years for sure and has 2 more years of warranty. I'm using my 3 years old
EVO for System and downloads and it's still at 98% of its original health state and got a TBW of 18TB (from 150TB)
so it probably will run for the next 7-10 years without any problem.

And as an extra Info, a friend uses his 120GB Evo since more than 5 years for music production and it's still as fast
    as in the beginning.

Would you recommend ryzen 3700 or intel i7-9700?

I would go with the Intel i7.

Am also about to buy a new PC cause mine smelled bit burned in the last days (It's 10 years old with the first gen i7 920).
I'm building a Mini ITX system with external Sound card (My Delta 1010LT doesn't fit in such a small system).

Already got the case and enough of SSD's for space but need to wait for my next money to get the remaining parts.
For the system I'm using an m.2 SSD because of its enormous speed.

Should look like this at the end (same case as mine)

The Audio interface should fit in that free space in the back, will drill some holes into the case if needed
(I'm probably going with Air cooling but will see how the machine works).
