new in the forum and newbie in this matter

In your opinion which one is better in order to add "good-old" libraries? 5.6.0 or 5.6.6???
I'm asking this because I have an old 5.6.6 mac installer but recently I've found a "6.0.4 + 5.6.0" mac pack (clearly who made the pack preferred 5.6.0 over 5.6.6 for some reasons...)

Instinctively I'd go for 6.0.4. + 5.6.0 pack, but my situation is a bit more complicated: I have an old mac with 5.6.6 and all my "good-old" libraries (samples are in an external drive). My idea was to simply connect the external drive with samples to the new 6.0.4+5.6.0 mac, and "copy & paste" the installed libraries (the part installed onto the OS) from the old mac to the new one.

Question 1: is it possible to "copy & paste" the OS libraries from v5.6.6 to v5.6.0? Or is it possible only between identical versions?

Question 2: in order to do this "drag & drop" which are the folders to be copied (in osx)? Or is it preferable to re-install every single library?

Hi I'm working with Mac 10.12 and I'm using Kontakt 5.6 and 6.03
It does'nt matter where the library is stored internal or external HD
The problem is that Kontakt 6 do not reconnize some library thoutgh they are correct install on Kontakt 5. For example you can have the Chris Hein Horn working perfectly in K 5 and see on K 6 the prompt: This library is not property installed. Now I tried to change permission, the .xml or .plist file, I tried to install again the library but ther is no way to convince K 6 to load the library.
Now If someone has a good idea, let us know.

I don't know what you mean by "OS libraries" but the Kontakt libraries (some infrequent minor details aside) can be moved freely, external/internal drive. You add the libraries again or re-locate them and the "worse" that can happen is that perhaps you have to resave the instruments (if you did it before concretely).

Just in case, to clarify. Kontakt libs: are data. Kontakt itself: it's a program (programs do have OS libraries but those have nothing to do with Kontakt libs) . You can't loose if you use a 5 version and the last 6. They coexist peacefully.

 

He means the libraries that came with an installer, so for instance if you decide to delete their library folder, they leave installation data on the OS, so you have to properly uninstall them. Of course you can just copy the installed library data folder to a different location and uninstall them, then any (properly) k'd Kontakt that supports them will read those np.

 

I forgot about that. The libs I use are tweaked and "repackaged" (trending AZ topic lol), but I bet there's an installer in at least one or two of 'em, inside my "backup everything but samples" rar file.

 

Kontakt 5.6.0 is a vintage sampler, it adds more warmth to the sound library
