I've always found cocaine to be the stupidest drug. Hey can I buy something that costs a shitload of money, makes me paranoid, greatly increases my chances of a heart attack and has a comedown like all the life has just been sucked out of my soul? Oh and is it possible to also fiend incessantly for more when I run out? Most coke is cut so much you can't even call it coke. Definitely not like back in the day when the drug and the experience were a lot more memorable. Still I'm a naturally anxious kind of person (though I'm great at hiding it) so I'm looking for a more laid back experience not feeling constantly on edge.

Here's some interesting drug facts from history:
1) Before novocaine, cocaine was the most commonly used anesthetic. You could also buy it over the counter in any pharmacy.
2) Heroin was marketed as an over-the-counter medication in 1895 by Bayer the company that manufactures aspirin. It was given this name because it was supposed to be a heroin against pain...well it sure was...unfortunately it was also a heroin against life.
3) Hemp used to be used as a fuel.
4) LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) was discovered by accident by Albert Hoffman in 1938. It wasn't until 1943 that he discovered it's psychedelic effects when he was working and took off his gloves. Some of it absorbed through his skin and the rest is history.
5) Ecstasy used to be used in marriage counseling.
6) The CIA believed that China, Russia and North Korea were brainwashing captured Americans so not wanting to be behind in new and interesting technology they embarked on testing LSD on unassuming citizens.
7) The following drugs used to be sold over-the-counter: Amyl Nitrate, Benzedrine, Cannabis, Cocaine, Codeine, Heroin, Mephedrone, Methamphetamine, Opium and Quaaludes.

Yeah I've heard about it before and you brought it up in the Music Can Be A Weapon thread. By the way I haven't forgotten about it and I do intend on replying. I used to do some experimentation with psychedelics in a group dynamic. I guess you could call it guided excursions into the unknown. I have some great books on these kinds of topics including one by Timothy Leary incorporating aspects of the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
