    Hi guys,

A pretty straightforward questions. I have a home studio so not familair with AUD gear and plugins that use them but I've been asked to put together an equipment list to upgrade a studio I will be working out of and they want it setup with state of the art UAD gear and plugins.

    Inventory:
    Mac i7 32gb RAM
    Apollo Preamp
some basic rack mounts for headphones, compressors etc. Run of the mill stuff.
Vintage Neuman u-87, a Rode, and AKG
    Pro-tools
    plugins etc.

What would I need to setup going forward with UAD devices and plugins for a medium sized studio. Not usually more than 3-4 inputs EVER at the same time for a small band and usually only 1 or 2 at a time.

MONEY is not an object so please feel free with suggestions.

    Thanks for your input.

    Tim

1:Apollo Mk2 has 2 Unison enabled mic preamp, UAD-2 Quad Core

2:Apollo 8 with four Unison enabled mic preamps, UAD-2 QUAD Core

3:Apollo x8 features four Unison-enabled mic preamps, UAD-2 HEXA Core DSP

your dsp usage is about plugins that you use,
I've own Apollo mk2 Quad and Satellite Octo and for me it's enough.
Check the UAD plugin chart here: https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/215262223-UAD-2-DSP-Chart

And here is satellite dsp: https://www.uaudio.com/uad-accelerators/uad2-satellite-thunderbolt.html

    I hope it helps you.
If you have further questions do not hesitate and ask.

I'm not sure what your straight forward question is.
You have your own home studio, but you are putting together a studio for someone else and money is no object? Is that correct?
I'm not sure what you mean by Apollo preamp either. Are you wanting to expand the current setup you listed for the purpose of recording up to 4 channels? Then as listed above you will need one of the Apollo 8 models. You may find that Thunderbolt 3 on the Apollo will not work directly with the mac without the correct cabling. Then you need to sort out your monitoring configuration and headphone feeds. I use a Presonus Central Station with my Apollo and it's very flexible.

So yeah, a studio that is UAD equipped and can run its native plaugins. I think M. Leys sent me in the right direction though. Thanks.
Options in order of preference? Remember, money is no object here. I appreciate your response Mr. Leys. If I'm understanding you right that two pireces of gear: an Apollo Mk2 and a UAD-2 Quad Core?

    Thanks again.

    My Pleasure!

Yes options are in order of preferences.
also i suggest you to check this out as well: https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/ar...ce-Compatibility-with-Apollo-Twin-Thunderbolt

i have 2 UA piece of gears, Apollo twin mk2 quad, Satellite Octo(DSP)
I suggest you to go for an Apollo twin mk2 to use it as a controller, that's amazing, then you can expand your devices up to your needs.
"A total of six UA devices can be combined in one system and you can control them via you Apollo twin"

Remember that you need to get the thunderbolt version (do not go for usb or firewire)
