    Hi guys,

    Everything is in the TITLE.
Since there is a 25% discount on Live and Packs until June 11th, I'd like to buy a licence.

But I would also like to be able to run some packs that I won't buy until I can test them to their full extent and not just a tiny demo version (when it's available).

I installed the 10.1 trial version to try the packs and it worked perfectly.
But as soon as I installed the 10.1 from R2R, the trial version stopped because it could not access the internet.

Before I buy my licence, I would like to know if I can run both version (legit & cracked) at the same time on a MAC.

Thank you in advance for your advices.

All right, it's been two days now. 70 views but no answers.
Maybe I should ask differently like: Do any of you run a legit Live alongside a cracked one on a MAC ?
And if that's the case, can you tell me how it works ? Maybe I done something wrong.

    Thanks.

Well like I said in the 1st post, I would like to try some of the packs completely - not just 10% of the pack - and for that, you need a cracked version of Live if I am not mistaken.
That's why I want to run the 2 versions at the same time, to be able to tests packs before I buy them.

Back to the question: is it possible ? Or am I being dumb because there is another way ?
    Cheers,

I doubt application data and settings could be independent

I already tried with the trial version which was working perfectly (expected :)).
Then I installed the R2R version.
And after that, I was not able to launch the legit trial version anymore.
It seemed that the R2R patch was somehow messing with the authorisation system of the trial version.

Maybe it's just related with the way the trial version works...
However my initial question remains: can I have Legit and Cracked Live working on the same MAC.

Unfortunately, I operate with MAC so I hope the information is useful for Windows user :)

I am sure you are right but if I could find what R2R does that does not allow a legit version to launch maybe I could use both.
At least I could switch back on or off the R2R safelock so I can try the packs with the R2R version and go back to my productions with the legit version.

I sometimes try "extended" software in a Virtual Box VM (and if I want to avoid an installation that leaves some remains like ilok, pace etc). Of course there are performance issues and latency problems, but for tryouts it is mostly usable with some ASIO tweaking. They are also completly isolated from the rest of the machine, and disconnection from internet is easy and doesn't affect your main workspace. Downside is the huge amount of ssd space needed, and you should always backup the always growing VM image. Note that I haven't done this with Ableton so far.

    >> That's actually a pretty good idea , I use Parallel Desktop for the job so I have a license.
If there is not an easier solution, I might use that one in the end.
I just have to figure out how to route the audio and midi signal to the VM :)

    >> Man, the R2R MAC version in an official release version, you can check on the sister site.
We - the Mac people :winker: - are just used to function with Wine or Keygen App to emulate a Windows session to run the Keygens which are the same for Win & Mac.

    >> Thanks for giving me choices mate.
But I don't like seing the R2R patch used out of an official R2R release :).
What I can see is that the official 10.1 from R2R comes pre-patched so no ALS patch like in the video.

I made another test today and it seems to be working so far.
2 things have changed since my first test:
    • More days have passed: the 1st time I tried, I had 31 days remaining on my trial, now 25 remaining,
    • After my first failed attempt, I uninstalled everything (Legit trial and R2R's version) and when I reinstalled the Legit trial, I put "automatic updates" to off instead of on.
So one of these two changes might have made the test possible: having both Legit trial and R2R's version at the same time.

To be perfectly thorough, I installed ModeAudio - Synthwave v1.1 ALP to try it, and as expected, it works fully on the R2R version but the AIF sample files don't work on the Legit trial.
