Nice track, is this your voice?
Somewhat I can imagine this kind of song in the Eurovision.

Fantastic vocals and the lyrics are great! Top notch

    The mix is fine here.

I guess the only thing I would add is more doubles / harmony to the chorus parts at 0:25 and repeats. Sounds a tad solo for chorus... I personally prefer that sound, but if you want a more "produced to shit" version then I'd whack it on a bit thicker.
The 1:33 variations add to the vocals great. Love those

I'm listening on my laptop, so I can't comment on the mix except to say that it sounds fine on laptop speakers (which can be tricky in its own right) but as others have said, you sound dope af

Who wrote the lyrics, they were hilarious. The song needs a youtube video to improve listener's connecting to the artist's feelz.

Consider upping the BPM just a tiny bit! That will make the choruses zip, and not be so ponderous at times. Just up the BPM enough that the ear has no time to get impatient between the chorus vocal lines hitting it. I think it will insta-make it seem more modern.

Use expressive volume automation on the vox to inject more emotion. There's no "correct" way, loop phrases and then play with the envelope to see what kind of feels you can get. If you have Melodyne skills, do the same thing with pitch using Melodyne (disable all automatic pitch snapping and play with the feel & pitch contour, phrase by phrase). There is a lot to be gotten from simple volume automation.

I think the mix as is has serious problems overall in nearly all the important frequency ranges, but they all the kind that a mix engineer knows exactly how to fix (after a couple hours of work). It probably reflects what speakers/where you're listening to this. So your time is way better spent focusing on finishing the vocals, tightening the song, making it exciting. Nail the mix later with the help of an engineer.

I'd like to hear some additional falsetto in the chorus backings.

I think the whole mix is overcompressed/overlimited and would benefit from some volume automation to support the arc of suspense.
Like @Satai I too think it's a bit too slow and has some problematic frequency distribution.

But I like the song.

Thank you all for listening and giving great advice/thoughts!!!

I pretty much do this solo and have no mix engineers around. Are there any specifics that you could tell me about the mix??

You already did your best for the mix though, it shows. Listening to it, I can tell exactly the sound you're going for, but due to the limitations of your listening situation at the moment, the only way you can get there is by listening to a reference track and flipping back/forth to yours, making guesswork changes based on trying to become more like the reference - as opposed to just going for what sounds good on your speakers. It's a really unnatural way to work, but you might be able to get in the ballpark with it. Checking against the reference will be like "hrmphh, mine is better than this" a lot of the time - but nope, it isn't. It's the speakers/room lying.

At the moment, people might comment stuff like "the low end is not doing its job", "unpleasant oversaturating lows", "vocals too separated from backing", "high end harshness hump" etc etc, and then you'd go and adjust it but on your speakers the adjustment will not sound right to you. It will really be like flying blind trying to make the mix work. You adjust one thing, and then 3 other things pop out and need fixing too, but you can't hear them...

If you're intent on doing it all solo regardless what anyone says, then here's a couple recommendations that I think you'll enjoy:

-PUREMIX How To Use Melodyne on Vocals
This is a relaxing fun session with young Fab "hallo children" Dupont, shows a lot about what you can do right now to get your vocals rocking using fine adjustment with no pitch grid. It's mostly about pitch, but you should think about what you can do by applying the same ideas to volume automation in your vocal phrases. It's gonna be tiny changes, but night and day difference in feel.

    - Puremix How to Listen Reference Edition
More Fab, because you can't get enough now.

    - Matthew Weiss Mixing Home Recordings
Try to learn by osmosis by watching what Weiss does, I feel like there's a good chance you'll catch something from him that will take your mixing beyond trying to be correct and then you start using the gear creatively for feel purposes. "Unbeautiful" can become so beautiful then!

    Both from the sistah site

(edit: corrected the Weiss tutorial I meant a different one)

Ha, I tried something on your mp3, check out how it sounds sped up!

This is oldschool pitchshifting up by 0.72 semitones (BPM up by 4.247%) without preserving duration. I did some super rough volume automation in emotional places, and the thing blooms into a whole new version of itself on you.

Nice work, good voice..........you got a kinda ethnic vibe going on that you could maybe expand on instrumentally?

@Satai (nice one moosh) has pointed you in what I believe is the right direction, he's right in that the song opened up and bloomed with a few tweaks.

Take your time, maybe work on something else and revist this song with a refreshed perspective?

@Satai brought up some very interesting and overlooked comments. I'd take serious note and maybe read it over again ;)

Too many artists want to make, mix, produce, perform, bake, build, dance etc etc. Don't forget you are an artist, clearly with talents in the right areas.
Wasting time mixing and mastering is like an actor wanting to do the lighting or sound fx. Or a chef growing his own cabbages and making his own plates...

Keep banging out those tunes and let the other guys do their job. That's how it works, costs you but the end results and your creativity will thank you ten fold. Good luck

Nice work and i like your voice
to be honest though and this might be just me (i am no expert at mixing and mastering) all i can focus on is the bass & the Hi Hats
your voice is nice but seems as if floating above the music it needs to gel with it and maybe ad some more instruments in the middle and some ear candy.
again nice song and best of luck
