Amiga 500. After half a year of gaming I was fed up with gaming and found that I can use tools called 'tracker' to get the paula soundchip to play samples. Oktalyzer was the first of those to have 8 Tracks by adding the 2 Voices in 7 Bit (instead of 8) to feed them to one of the 4 soundchannels. The 7mhz 68000 just couldn't do it in realtime with 8bit. After that I used OctaMED. That one added midi tracks, so was able to hook up a cheesy yamaha keyboard to the external midiinterface. That was awesome. Oh, and I had a sampleinterface, plugged into the parallel port. So i could digitize my own samples. homecomputers didn't have line ins back then...
when the atari falcon came out i so badly wanted one of those... 44.1khz, 16bit, multi midi interface... but when i finalle was able to afford one, ataris days were counted...

You guys were superheroes to me. like armin sander, who programmed octalyzer. totally awesome what you guys did with assembler hacks to get the very last bit of performance out of those machines.
read an interview lately, where sander said he had to program this green on black user interface to free up resources. I liked that sleek interface so much, i thought it was the fastest, least distracting piece of software ever.

Vic 20, this thing made the Commodore 64 look like a Porsche. I had the cassette drive with it. It could barely run the programs you had to write to get it to run, my brother went into computers I played music can you guess who owns a house and has a 401k?
