@lbnv dub has never been quantized, listen to King Tubby or Lee Perry. Those are live recordings of instruments and the mixing is done live to tape

Thats why i dont like dance trance house trouse hip hop blip bla bla music they simply ruin anything that is HUMAN autotune vocals so and sounds robotic instead of human.
Led Zep didnt need to correct their music.
The Stones song Honkey Tonk Woman start on 80 bpm and finished on 125 bpm if i rememeber correctly they simply raised the tempo as they got more excited and guess what people LOVED it.
Well computer music makers dont know that stuff they never played in a band with other musicians

I didn't create his thread in the hope that it would collapse into a flame of burning emotion, a for and against cage match where people are taking sides and laying down a line in blood, or in hope of drawing it out of a phantom opponent.

Opinions are warranted parenthetical on either side of reason.

Well, I think quantization didn't ruin anything, it just opened up the doors for new and/or different kind of genres.
I'm a fan of classical music, Heavy Metal and (the genre formerly known as) Techno.
I love the feel of unquantized Rock and classical music as well as the machine made feel of modern Metal and EDM. And I think they both have there right to exist.
I played keys in Rock bands and when I nowadays make music with the computer and vstis, I sometimes use hard quantization and sometimes I do it on a percent basis (sadly I'm not good enough to not do it). And sometimes I even do not hard quantize, for example, a bass for a otherwise completely quantized song and so far noone complained about it.

If you don't like quantized music, don't make and don't listen to it, if you like it, do the opposite. Simple as that. May you all find, make and listen to the music you love. Peace.

Totally. Quantizing what was already a masterpiece is bad ju ju. But Qauntizing music isn't. It's really about what your doing now, and not what has been done then. There's nothing wrong with either, but each stands on it's own merit.

Sister says: "Led Zeppelin' s final studio recording, In Through the Out Door, was released in 1979, just one year before the passing of John Bonham and the dissolution of the group." I think I'm gonna cry now  This coincidental post just hit me with that. John, you will always be someone who was never forgotten, loved, and respected for sharing your talented soul with everyone.

Yes and no. Isn't a delay hugely used in dub music perfectly (mathematically!) quantised?

Their fluctuations are mechanical. No relation to the groove of the human performance. Every delay "plays itself". And we can't find anything similar in the traditional music.
But you are right because dub mucisian play live instruments.

Agree with you with the principal, but mechanical doesn´t mean precise, by fluctuation I mean tape wearing out, old motor, wow and flutter, you can try with the most precise delay up to date, yet you probably can´t get the same sound out of it, there is no MIDI in tape delay to sync with.
