Program that can take a picture of sheet music, and turn it into midi?

Is there any program that can turn a .pdf or just a picture of score, and convert it into midi format. I’ve heard that Photoscore can achieve that task, but I don’t know if there is a better application or something simpler. Thanks!

They are all pretty bad. The problem is that if you have orchestral sheets they are pretty much useless because you will have such things as instrument names which are not being captured properly, formations of the sites will be very badly transformed and so on. And if just one instrument name of an instrument in any other key than C is not getting captured properly all of the notes in this instrument are not correct anymore. How many definitions of the english horn are out there? What if instead of "horns", "corni" is written? All of this is crucial not to think about simplifications of all those names. Shorthand symbols and so on.

If you have very clear structured piano or organ sheets it is "ok" anything more complicated and they are useless.

Photoscore is awesome. I converted almost 30 scores with it. Very accurate.

It exports music XML which is supported by a lot of software (I used it with guitar pro), and also full integration into Sibelius.
(only thing was that it created two separate MIDI tracks for guitar tab and standard notation. I converted all in one take, so I didn't spend time finding a way to merge those two, I just muted the other one in Guitar Pro when using and used multiple track view.)

    Smart Score
is also good, but not updated for a long time (almost three years). It has more options for editing stuff because it is mean stand-alone (while Photoscore is kind of part of Sibelius).

You can just edit after conversion, unless you are too lazy.

all of the above work to some extent.
    But...
you're gonna have to do some work post conversion whichever software tool you decide on.
If you can't use the tools available, get somebody who can.
Like everything else, if the job is worth the effort, you'll do the work required.
If the job ain't worth the effort, you won't.
    good luck.

Yes, of course I am too lazy if I pay hundreds of € for a program to read hundred thousands of notes. :hahaha:

Let the super Photoscore or anything read this from the 5th site on: (link deleted on author's request)
The 6th site is already pure junk. Even the 5th site is because it doesn't know what "corni in F" between two lines with those roman numbers means. Therefore every single note in the horns is already trash.

You can do this with any other symphony that is in there.

The editing takes longer than typing every single note by yourself.
    None of them is good.

The translation of the italian corni is horns. :dunno:

But this is exactly what I meant with the first reply. There are too many variables as that those programs would deliver decent results.

Василий Сергеевич Калинников the author is Russian (and original pdf )and he may have his own interpretation of the name of the tool ... but I'm not sure...and as someone devoted to the Symphony No. 2( supposedly Vinogradsky)... in fact, only Symphony 1 is dedicated to Vinogradsky...2 dedicated to another person...

AI has replaced human in many aspects. If you are close-minded, then I don't bother to change your mind. Keep wasting your time entering notes manually, but do not mislead others...
