RME Fireface 800. I ran 2 sessions with no issues at all until opening Atlas and Omnisphere gui

Could be some kind of driver "conflict" between firewire and graphic card.

One way to test this is to disable the firewire port and take you're audio interface out of the firewire port. Test the system with Asio4all driver and see if the problem is still there (Atlas and Omnisphere). Basically test the system without firewire and audio interface.

By the way your motherboard has an IEEE 1394 header so you could always try to buy a firewire add on card

I am using an add on firewire card. I will try to remove it and see if it helps. Thank you

Nope. That didn't work either. In fact got a BSOD during my latency test. Going back to on board vid card and will try a USB to HDMI adapter for 2nd monitor. This is nuts. AFAIK no one who had this issue ever solved it. At least I haven't found any answers searching. Thank you guys again so much for taking the time to help me. Stability is more important than dual monitors at this point.

Maybe a better question, now.. why would my vga output just stop working (from onboard). Monitor is detected..but screen stays black. Monitor works fine with phone and other sources. Tried new cable also. Any ideas?

Seems like that old motherboard and CPU have a hard time with external graphic cards. Probably only noticed when working with audio and buffer size. Like you said on heavy plugins like Omnisphere for example.
I guess you tried to reinstall the onboard graphic card driver? And checked the bios that the settings on that onboard card is correct. Onboard graphic card on the motherboard is pretty old technology. So basically I think the onboard graphic card is broken because of age. Maybe time to to upgrade motherboard, cpu, and ram. Probably not what you wanna hear.
Or you have to change the settings in Omnisphere so it gets lighter and your cpu can handle it without pops and clicks (using that pci graphic card). Not a good solution cause other heavy plugins gonna give you the same problem

Right now I went back to my original on-board card and one monitor setup. Things are back to running perfectly. Ordered a USB to HDMI adapter to see if that will work for my 2nd screen. I will keep you updated if that works. I didn't even think about it before.

are you using the DVI-D Port for the working monitor? Sounds like only your VGA port or cable is broken. Have you tested the VGA cable?
Your internal graphic ATI Radeon HD 4200 support dual monitors, but I'm unsure if it does it through USB. Probably does but I have never tried that myself

Yes the DVI port is working great. The vga port just started producing a black screen out of nowhere. Bought brand new vga cable was the first thing i tried. I'll let u know how the usb-hdmi pans out. Should be here by wed-thurs. It was cheap so its worth a try.

I'm having the same problems with the gt 720 Nvidia card, similar latency problems recorded on latencymon with the kernel direct x causing problems and the nvidia kernel causing problems (screenshot below). Omnisphere or Trillian on a big project will crash fl studio. My system proecessor: i74790 intel 16GB Memory

Im getting this message from latencymon
Your system seems to be having difficulty handling real-time audio and other tasks. You may experience drop outs, clicks or pops due to buffer underruns. One of more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates. The gt 720 came with my system.

I have seen others saying they bought a amd graphics card. That seems a bit extreme. I am using focusrite scarlett solo as audio usb interface. I have power management setting changed from save energy to maximum performance. I am currently looking at the solution for system throttling but I just have to ask has anyone actually solved this problem with the nividia graphics cards and do they know why this problem exists ?

    First try this
    https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/ans...ent-mode-from-adaptive-to-maximum-performance

IF you are using Windows 10, also this

You may want to use a custom de-bloated driver

ok. lemme re-phrase every time I've run into this issue its been nVidia video card that has been the problem, with my system and a few others I've repaired. I understand nVidia stuff can be made to work but most users don't want to deal with all the hoops you have to jump through to get it going. So its been my experience to swap out the card for an AMD which I never have had an issue with EVER!
