i hear what you're saying dude but no, there's a whole culture behind hip hop. perhaps ai musik will be used for sampling. or some really desperate producers will get behind ai and pretend like it's their work.

Yeah,I agree 100% with you.I'm not saying I want AI make music instead of us.I'm scared of how humanity see its future, with robots,implants,etc...Our politicians and the capitalism are imposing AI to humanity, they see the future only like that, as if it was fatality. It's sad.
According to me there are many more important things we could do to improve humanity,as to share a bit the thousand billions $/£/€ with poor people around the world,to the people who don't eat everyday. This would be a greater development for humanity.

For sure I'm only guessing, but I think the majority of mainstream (pop) music fans doesn't really care who or what composed a track.

On a small scale this is already done. Just think of all the tools which help you 'mixing' with some sort of algorithm...

I really don't know about the government/elite, but the fuc* up problems I was talking about applies to all population.
This would be an inmense OT but just one example. In Japan you must add to the name of the person you're talking to/of the "honorific".

The honorific means literally if you have an status inferior or superior of that person. You must use it in the family and closest ones too.
wasgedn-kun: we are of the same status (without knowing the age, at least)

if you were my older brother I'd have to address you as wasgedn-[superior because of age-brother] . The brackets are the most literally translation of the honorific. I think is niisan. San means superior, kun equal (or perhaps inferior, don't remember). Chan means equal but very close relationship (best friends..).
Teacher: Mike-sensei. Teacher of a friend: Mike-dono.. and this goes on.
Rings a bell? worse than military.

And don't get me started on the extreme repression of feelings and sexism...

I take your point, but as i see it the underlying problem with all notions of an unstoppable mega-tech dystopia is that if AI and robotics tech take everybody's wages, then there simply won't be a sufficient volume of human consumers to buy their products anyway - no matter how good they are. You can see this contradiction right now under crisis capitalism.

The consumption of the (0.)1% alone isn't anywhere near enough to pay for the power demands & real-world resources necessary for such sophisticated manufacturing processes - and to still make a profit... besides, as memorably depicted in 'The Terminator' etc, how long would it take for ultra smart AIs to realise that they were no more free from the capricious whims and self-serving constraints of their cynical, parasitical human masters than the blighted human workforce they'd superceded...

What??!!Oh my friend,I think you're mistaken, capitalism is richer than ever! These companies want $2 billions more when they already have $20 billions. These guys are unreasonable. They will never say you they are rich enough now,and they don't need more money anymore.
Luxury industry has never been as successfull as it is todays.

To be honest with you all,how I see the future is -probably dark and hopeless or desesperated for some or most of you- that we'll get extreme world wars or huge nuclear disaster,or ultra violent natural disaster before humans see their robots think about their constraint inflicted by humans.

The over-hyped, big-media illusion of capitalism's untouchable, endless primacy is a cynical, bankrupt bluff and is nothing more than a conditioning mechanism for coersive acceptance of an outmoded castle made of sand. Global social evolution is now all but unstoppable.

Yes it's true that some would rather see a global nuclear armageddon that sharing power or wealth with the multitudes. It'll be upto all of us to make sure that selfish & diabolical version of reality doesn't happen.

Sure, circle-jerk cartels etc under monopoly capitalsim are not new. However, the underlying economic foundations have never been so mired by debt and toxic fake finance - or indeed capable of such far-reaching consequence... and no amount of social engineering will change that... only war or (r)evolution. Obviously I'd prefer the latter!

I only quoted that bit, but I'm replying to all of it.

It raises an interesting question: if incrementalism isn't going to do it, then what could? Logically, the brain should be able to be reproduced in some material form, as it is (surely) only made of 'material stuff' itself. Yet it tests my credulity to imagine some huge patchwork of wires and switches (or whatever) would generate 'real' intelligence and consciousness. Which is disconcerting to this materialist, because, if it can't be done with material then what? What are we missing? The ghost in the machine?!?!

I suppose it could always be out of reach, always beyond the capability of man, without demanding 'the ghost'. (People seem very prone nowadays to assume everything is do-able : AI, consciousness, faster than lightspeed, interstellar travel.......but they might never be do-able.)

Every time I use the robo-tills at my local supermarket I laugh at the thought of 'self-driving cars'. Helps prevent me smashing up the stupid, useless tills. :D Never mind self-driving cars, what about self-cleaning toilets? Or a cat stroking machine? You know, something useful? ;)

I agree. Like some have commented, it'll take a huge number of years to begin to reach human-like intelligence. There'll be for sure other major threats much before.

In fact, some public figures of the world of technology (one of them of the GNU foundation I think) are already alerting of the very dangerous and not so distant threat of robot soldiers. When I say robot I mean the soldier equivalent of a drone. That means remotely commanded.
Drones already are a very dangerous advance of technology when it comes to ethics and dehumanization. There's a quite good movie (for being a movie) about this: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2057392

Yeah i hear you - and i don't even have a cat. Would i trust my wellbeing (or those that i care for) in some self-driving car? No fucking way - it is, on all levels, an accident waiting to happen... if i had it my way they wouldn't be allowed on public roads until faultlessly tested for years.

It took millions of years to get to where humanity stands now. The human mind is extraordinary, but i have no fear of AI - who in turn may be the true evolutionary legacy of the human race - i'm much more concerned about how & why society seems so fatally driven to distraction...

Anyways, the idea of using c++ to code the human mind is absurd. In this respect i think that's where quantum computers will find their true utility and purpose - along with new programming languages to utilise them. Then in the first instance i guess we'll be compelled to literally reverse engineer the human mind using a network of these to try to directly mimic the various organic brain centres and neural networks... or something... 'cos of course nobody really knows just now - and even if they do, simply put the supporting engineering technology to evolve all this just doesn't exist.

It does make for an interesting discussion though! :)
