I dunno, just bought it too and I'm on the fence returning it. It can do things I couldn't do on my own like quick chord progressions, but it's the quirky features that is annoying me. No ability to loop the progression at your own taste is one issue. It will only loop back at a minimum of two bars. Sometimes quick stacato stabs is what I want. Also, you can't audition other chords on the fly without committing to them. Also, once you are in the progression options tab, and select a new progression, there is no way to return to your original, like no cancel button. It's missing some very basic functions. And in NO WAY can you manually move notes around, not in chords, melody or deep, kinda lame. Could be so much more of a plugin. Lazy , out of touch developers.

 

I'm personally waiting to see what version 2.0 looks like when they finally release it in the (hopefully) near future. It's supposed to have a lot more features than what's in it now and they also seem to be very open to adding new features suggested by their customers.

But yeah, as it stands now, it's pretty ho-hum. I'd definitely wait for 2.0 though to see what they do before buying.

All of cognitone software have 30 days trials. Synfire is an amazing tool for the money - I had to read the manual several times, years ago, to understand the intricate AI behind it , but when I realized the fact that such an mind blowing software actually exists, I was really happy that it was available for sale - bought it after one or two weeks of intense demoing, and, since then, I kept the license on a separate ilok, since it's the most valuable ilok stick in the studio ) . The existent youtube tutorials barely scratch the surface of its potential, so I'd suggest to rather buy the damn thing and get busy

synfire pro looks extremely powerful, but $760? that's almost twice what my midi controller keyboard cost. in fact i don't think i spent that much on my last computer build.

 

Yeah, that's just Captain Chords. The whole suite: Captain Bass 2, Captain Melody 2, and I think Captain Hook 2 are currently being worked on for release. They're all supposed to work together with each other and have a lot more features that 1.0 doesn't have.

 

How many activations can you have with one purchase?

 

As far as I know, the developer permits three different owners. After purchasing you may sell it and the license is transferred to the new owner, who again coud sale it. It is all made oficially with the developer.
By the way, I have a license for sale, as I do not have enough time to dive into Synfire. But I already bought from another user, so my sale will be the last for this license. If anybody is interested, send me a PM.

I bought em, love the shit out if em, WELL worth it... for me...and when Captain Beat and Hook are released I'll be one happy, satisfied camping customer.

Could care less i I have to be online.... anyone with any sense can protect their interests easily enough.

 

i really didnt like it and their 30 days money back guarantee is not as easy as it sounds, you need a valid reason, in other words if you didnt realise that it needs an inet connection and want to return it because of that they could be difficult (at least at ADSR they are)

 

Rapid Composer is much better and doesn't dictate style or "riffs", that's up to you...
