So I can only speak for myself ( you can jump on me if you disagree)
To me what is special about the orchestral sounds is the holographic nature of the timbre.
    Timbre is key here.
You have a very organic nature to the sound endlesslevels of detail and articulation embedded inside of the timbre.

Actually, I know that at least one great composer used massively synths: Gerry Goldsmith.
But while in "Logan's Run" the Arp 2500 could fit perfectly, think of Scott's Alien (1979): could it be the same opening if made of synths (speaking of 70's technology offer)?

Or the same magnificence of the awakening from the hypersleep?

    I don't think so.

    Fostah mon,

Why are you not interested in orchestral sounds?
    What are the drawbacks?
What sounds are you interested in?
Why are you interested in those ones?
What significance does any sound in particular have on a Melody or harmony, to the point where you would think about it differently than just to pick a sound you think will fit a part in some context?

Maybe try listening to this. It's a eye-watering, mind-bending presentation that I really, really like.

    Music is my religion.

    Cheers! :)

simply put you can listen to almost any moderate level music, relax and really enjoy it for a lot longer than listening to constant screeching, banging, yelling. screaming overly loud noises with thunderous loud low level thumping, which can and does affect people with heart conditions and other serious health issues and will also absolutely lead to hearing loss issues.

    Boring and repetitive???
Hmm :dont: Trap and EDM come to mind.

I guess you haven't learned the true creative potential of what you can do with sound yet. There's no critical thinking in a preset, zero. Its reappropriated remediation. Libraries digital or analogue; are just a collection of ideas, stories and concepts.

Some people read the book but don't absorb the true potential of the text or more importantly the subtleties of the subtext with a sense of practical application relating to their conscious life (can of worms right there). "That's great but how can I use that or apply it to my life experience"

Some own a bookshelf and collect books to appear enlightened, some read the book and some live the book.

"A hammer can be a tool or a weapon, some build, some carry; the potential is to dream beyond the tools into a universe of infinite possibility"

Awesome "psychophysiological answer!" That's what a lot of these creepy new-music aficionados aren't able to understand.
