I wonder if i am the only person here who records his own farts for sounddesign? You can do nice transitions, give some more "grit" to basslines and just about endless possibilities, depending on the character of the fart. Lets share some sounddesign techniques using fart sounds as a source.

Need to get my zoom recorder set up the night before as most of my finest efforts (range, timbre etc) are just after waking up. My digestive tract also has a delay built-in. No doubt the Mrs will suggest a limiter on my effects chain.

Yes, you can according to Steven Slate:

 

Put a mic up your ass, eat some chili mixed with onions and you get that sound. Better than Tommy Trash or Slate Digital.

 

Artichoke hearts + boiled cabbage + boiled cauliflower = secret sauce for massive pressure release! Just make sure you use a good quality pop filter and don’t get too close to the mic...Proximity effect can damage your gear in this case

Is there a mic especially good for recording those real thick and bassy sounding farts?

 

This I made by using three sounds.
1) taking a shit (the shit hitting the water in the toilet)
2) Taking a piss
3) rattling my keychain

 

I'd use a good quality ribbon mic, because in case you make a shart, you can clean it more easily. And yes - you should do it naked, because that way you will be able to capture the whole fart frequency spectrum perfectly.

To capture a more bassy, perfectly juicy, and thick fart, try sitting on a chair and using two mics, one right behind your arse, and one underneath the chair. Kinda like capturing a snare drum! :hihi:

 

You can try with 5€ china mic for a better vintage sound just put it up your ass and more possible close to your stomach or trying to use the common one for fart recording, the U47. Very fairy price especially for recording fart in average quality.

 

The sound of a fart isnt created IN the anus, so inserting it wouldn't make any sense imo. Just put it as close to your ass as possible

I'd go with a Neumann u47 ... Not a personal one though...I'd probably rent one for a day or two then bring it back!

Wow that EDM producer is very efficient!! Kill 2 birds with one stone...Get a song done and blow load in one go! Very efficient indeed :D

 

Make sure to check the phase between the arse mic and the under chair mic to get optimal low end!
