guys i need this bass drum to knock and be weighty at the same time.
its just not happening.
any tips? frequency boosts? cuts? specific compressors?

Please grab sausage fattener which is a free plugin on the web since it's discontinued as I understand, also grab acustica basstard, also free. I call this combo fat bastard, he will help add depth to your knockability.

that's the wrong kick to start with,
try the blasian beats we the north drum kit.
it has al sorts of kicks where you can't go wrong.

For proper usage, you might look into how Voice Of God plugin works or Bark Of Dog plugin. Basically select your low frequency, boost it a few db, attenuate a few db, see this post for a better explanation.
