    Hello,
I have an ipod nano and when i play music using my headphones (Sennheiser Momentum 2 wired) the volume is way higher than my oneplus 6t (same audio file) (also the volume is higher in my brothers iphone x but still not as good as my ipod) , why is that? and can i make my oneplus like or close to my ipod?

It has to do with the pre-amp, usually Apple includes a better one in their devices than other companies...

You could try a bluetooth speaker. Most I have seen include headphone outputs as well as speaker. Might give you better pre-amp.

Yep, this is absolutely correct, therefore @ OP, there isn't much (nothing) you can do about it, but I'm not shure if this one
is really true (but it could be). Loudness and quality are not the same.

in this case, Loudness is quality, although i have made some tests in the past, the Macbooks have a better pre-amp and somehow a cleaner more natural speakers and Jack output, how is it possible ? i really have no idea, it is probably just pre-amp related.

Apple has been doing a good job for that.

Older Apple headphone amps used to be very good.
I still have my 10 year old iPhone 3GS to listen to my music library. My Samsung S7 has pathetic volume output by comparison so I gave up on it for music use.

I seem to remember the only way to boost the headphone amp circuit on Android is to root the phone ...but the trade off is distorting the audio signal. Unfortunately there's no simple fix for a weak headphone pre-amp.

On Android it's also OS related. When I used Android 8 Oreo, the sound was nice, loud and powerful.

Since I got an update to Android 9 Pie, everything sound related is fcked up.
Audio gets distorted when I set any low bass frequencies just a bit higher - even when the volume is low
it sounds overdriven. If I crank up the volume to maximum I'm at the same level I had on Oreo when it was at 70%.

So Android 9 is the worst OS when it comes to sound. Had to flash back Android 8 to get the sound right again.

I don't know where you from, but in the EU some devices are locked on lower volume because of the laws in place.
Rooting and using a different OS build would be the only solution I guess, apart from artificially make it louder.

I found a better solution. I just bought an old HTC One M9 for 40€ + a new battery for 10€ (what a mess to build it in),
installed Resurrection Remix OS on it and now use it as music player only. The old HTC One series used to have the
best sound I ever heard from a device (using Headphones and Bluetooth speakers).

Together with the very best music player app ever (PowerAmp 3.x), it's the perfect solution for me.

Hey Mr. r4e, if you have both the knowledge and time to answer, what is the difference between the trial version and the paid $4.99 iteration?

    Thanks

The trial version is limited to 15 days, it is one of the (if not the) best audio players I use on Android

I've been using it for the past hour or so, tweaked the EQ to balance out my Weston W30 buds to fit my liking and now the new Pixies album is sounding fairly awesome. I like all the options available and after using for a couple more days will most likely purchase it. This beats out AIMP. I'll keep VLC because it plays so nicely with mirroring the screen of my tablet to our television for watching films, but for pure audio Poweramp will be the thing.

    Thanks for the reply.

I bought this when it was first released, and have not looked at another player since.
