im looking for an very easy and handy app to hijack audio from any source (or less sum) from windows...


i tried audacity but it seems to sound not as the original tone i recorded

I am constantly listening to or watching stuff that I just want a snippet from, but usually end up having to DL the whole bloody 100meg instead of a 5 second sound bite.

Audacity is ok if you have the Lame 3.97 encoder installed
plain program does not bring out the clarity by itself

personally i use Acid Pro 7 to record live, but now we are sucking cpu resources
i also use a rewire app from plogue bidule to re-route the audio from a laptop via usb into
the dual quad core desktop where acid is 'armed for record'
i preset laptop output @ 50% volume, and set recorder pc to 100% vol, acid input to same
i drop eq on the channel buss and master the recording afterward. but thats me

 

I think I know what you mean when you say it doesn't sound quite like the original. My guess is it's peaking hard, right? But I'll throw it out there anyway. Your best bet is to go to your windows sound/stereo mix properties and change its value to about 7 (if you see percentage) or 0 db (if you see db). It was at 35 on mine, which meant an addition of ~12.5db. Mine goes only to fixed values for whatever stupid reason (that is, the closer I can get to 0 is -0,5 or -0,3).

You can also try Goldwave.

Or "Free Sound Recorder" (You'll want to choose custom installation and uncheck/don't accept the offers - The result is the same as Audacity and Goldwave just straight-on, no hassle - no details auto-save)

On my test it still doesn't sound quite like the original (not evenly "full" and loud sounding) but at least it's not squashed. (Audacity should be ok after the changes too)

i think im going with virtual audio cable - it is not that easy, but since i use my m-audio fast track pro,
such standard progs like total recorder e.g. dont work ?!

such little helper work just with buildin soundcarts - i guess

i dont get them work with the fast track pro
