...but we never forget of the 10 % that "L i f e " teaches us every second ...
..........it is that "inner" silent voice, that most of the time we don't listen to it & it always says to us "I told you so "

I agree but it usually teaches us the "don't"s and some boring obligations. The religion does it too. The inner voice doesn't talk much about the new innovations and prohibits much adventurous experimentations and suppresses hem.:mates:

My inner voice tells me everything I need to know...and what I need to do. The question is...Do I listen.

Also the mind stores everything...your question is can you access that knowledge before you fall in the rabbit hole again, lol.

    Wut.

Isn't it pretty common knowledge that your brain works that way anyway ? You forget anything you don't use again, simple. Anything you want to retain and that you want to keep in your long-term memory has to be recalled, hours, days and weeks after at least once.

This is quite the basic. "hey timmy, you need to do your homework because you won't remember what you learned today otherwise". heh

  9. Nope, nope, it was important, but it's gone. Oh well.

Another usage from this thread would be:

What does every person need to know and how much? When the most things are going to be forgotten soon or later so why to learn them? And how to access them when needed? As @blaqmatic said most things are not accessible when needed.

Sorry to say but your mind definitely doesn't store everything. It keeps most things you learn in that short term memory buffer zone for a while and sometimes some of that info can make it through long-term without any intent on your part because the info is relevant and relatively "easy" (really subjective, usually depends on associated memories, like a puzzle that's already started and this piece has an obvious and tangible fitting place in it so you'll remember it without even trying) but otherwise after a little while the information simply dissolve completely, mostly during your sleep when the brain has his best "detox" moments.

The things you unconsciously retain the most are memories, moments, the special ones, but not informations and knowledge. These you have to work for.

Says who? You? Lol. Scientifically, there are things about the brain that are still unknown. The argument over consciousness and processes are still being debated. And we may never know. 90% of the brains cells are glial and their function is still unknown. So you don’t know what they are storing or doing. And that is a fact. So sadly you saying things
Doctor Freud that you can’t possibly understand and neither can I.

But what I do understand is that my brain retains everything I can think of or see. As I am always recalling it when I “see” it again.
    Maybe yours doesn’t.

Imagine what happens to us humans when we unlock that other 90%’s purpose.

Lastly, I’m not a scientist or a doctor...so my thoughts and research are my opinion. Even if I was...It wouldn’t make me right because I was. Humans...we always think we know so much, when we actually know so little.

P.S. let’s see you “not” retain this conversation! Lol

First of all, keep your bad attitude and disrespect for someone else, not to someone who haven't shown you any kind of hostility, this is just distasteful and i don't feel like i'm argumenting with an adult when i see that kind of behavior. I sincerely hope you don't get that rude with anyone that doesn't agree with you, because that's kind of a gross company to be around for people in your life.

Anyway, it's quite ironic to see you playing the humble card of "we can't affirm anything", especially when stating that the brain retains everything permanently is as much a far-stretched and subjective an opinion as mine is ultimately.

"recalling it when i see it again"... you do know that this occasional recall doesn't prove anything at all ?
If you did any research beyond that personal observation you should know that there are things subjects did "recall" because the information was stored in the same neuron population (population coding) and already had a link to familiar or related information.

I'm no scientist either and my thoughts and research are my opinion.

Say what you will, you fired up that disgusting sass way too fast and unnecessarily to be taken seriously anyway, won't be reading any other words coming from these fingers of yours.

P.S.for P.S... when you have to give up context of what's been said to force a little joke down someone's throat.. just don't make it, it's pointless.

im shocked. finally a thread where you express a feeling/opinion of your own without any attempt to put down anything or ridicule or to lecture in vain. the revolutionary part is seeing you write "Probably there are some exceptions but I don't know them"!!? clear signs of humility and self-awareness/honesty. if that is a sign of whats to expect to come from you in the future, then congrats. it may be to soon to shout yet, but lets hope.

agree, i think its not the amount of scattered "info" that matters, or any ability to "access" it, its what you do with all those experiences/learnings and data on the long run, your ability to form a intelectual mind with the help of your experiences and gathered info. otherwise one could probably fill ones brain with scattered temporary data for ever without achieving a decent capacity for analysis.

"info" and technical specific data is is not the same as knowledge, its not the same as being able of understanding a process or a thought.

Yo! Dude! Calm down. You took that way too deep. It wasn’t that serious.
And unlike you, I’m not gonna write a book to say I’m not arguing.

    Have a nice day.

In my experience, it is much easier to forget something you don't do every day, and things you don't like to do/know how to do, things you find boring and/or unimportant fall into the same category. Your brain has limited capacity, especially short-term memory capacity, that's why we're not all computer engineers who can assemble a nuclear reactor, track meteorites who enter our Solar System, and make music at the same time, because each one of these things demands years, if not decades to master, and it gets incorporated into your long-term memory.

That's why we specialise. Kinda like ants. The only things I do *really well* is multimedia computers/operating systems from scratch, music, mixing and mastering, making samples and sound design. Then again, I can kinda paint, but not really. I can cook, but nowhere near a real chef. I can make stuff from wood, or solder some electronic parts, but nowhere near the quality of a real carpenter, and an electronic engineer. You just cannot possibly find enough time to learn and do everything really well!

That's why it's so important to choose what you want to do early in life. The earlier you choose and stick to it, the earlier you can master it and become something in the field you've chosen. The world as it is, is pretty much obsessed with youth and success, so it is rather advisable to do that as soon as possible. I knew I wanted to make computers the first time I assembled one in 1996. I knew I wanted to do music and sound design when I bought that Yamaha PSS-680 in '86. Synthesis is my love and passion, and I like my choice very much. What I do in my life is what I love to do. I'm a lucky guy.

As an example, tell your spause or a friend who isn't into synthesis, what an ADSR is. Then ask them again in a week.

If you woke me up in the middle of morning and asked me what an ADSR is, I would tell you instantly, but if you asked me what I had for lunch the other day I would have to think about it, probably quite long because if I hate something, it's when somebody wakes me up to ask questions, but answering what ADSR is wouldn't be so annoying.
