Hi there Folks, hope all is good,

well i run a dual machine setup, one running mainly Mac os High Sierra 10.13.6, and one dual booting, Windows 10 also High Sierra 10.13.6.

The first machine with only Mac os, is for recording purposes only, i don't mainly update it regularly, or install anything on it.

While the second machine with dual boot, that i use for Mixing mastering, or composing, has all kind of plugins and updated to their latest (Windows and Mac alike).

what i wanna do, is use Migration assistant, to transfer all my installed Plugin from my second machine to the Recording machine, without the risk of damaging or losing projects or anything.

i have used Migration assistant in the past successfully, but with a newly installed OS(Old + New) while in this case is (Old + Old).

Do you guys think it is possible?

    PS: both machines are Hackintoshs.

You should be safe using migration assist thanks to having two identical and older OS's. Problems have been noted when cloning Mojave as it requires disabling System Integrity Protection. But personally, although not deal with Hackintosh, I've never found a problem with plugins since the idea is to clone everything including all of your associated files that allow you to run those plugins. Migration Assist in other words does not discriminately think "hey, what's this? Looks dodgy. Might just teach this fellow a lesson and not copy that"

As stated above You should be fine - some apps might need to be reauthorized but that's not a big deal I guess.

I've used the Migration Assistant (always on Hackintosh) on multiple occasions from older os versions to newer ones mainly and never encountered any major hiccups.

some plugins, like plugin alliance for example, will treat a 2nd startup drive used on the same computer as another device entirely.

on my main computer i run 2 operating systems - my old one running sierra (built in HD) that has my DAW with all the plugins, and a newer one (external HD) running high sierra that ill be moving to over time. if i install my purchased plugin alliance stuff on the 2nd drive it will tell me it's another device and will use up one of my remaining plugin alliance authorizations.

in cases like that you may not get the smoothest migration.

Agree with both above. I had forgotten about plugins, even legitimate plugins, that use machine ID for authorisation. It's a tedious ordeal contacting support and terminating the old machine. And I always get the feeling that they think you're up to something suspicious. As though buying a new computer is a kind of nefarious activity.
