yes, you connect all you microphones, midi devices and other stuff through the audio interface:

As you can see the thunderbolt cable is connected to pc and interface. But scarlett 2i4 is a USB device so no need for thunderbolt on that. Actually you cannot use thunderbolt on that. You don't need to upgrade to Presonus Quantum or any other Thunderbolt audio interfaces if you are pleased with Scarlett 2i4. If you have trouble with unstable drivers, latency or just want a better device with more inputs and outputs in the future buy a Thunderbolt device

Ok this just clarified it all to me. Thank you for this quick guide.:goodpost: I havent had a problem with my interface when it came to daw music making. But my se2002II-something-something microphone mysteriously stopped catching any signal. (cable in good condition).

This was probably due to faulty drivers and my unstable aged system :trashing:

However, midi always been connected trough pc usb ports here, worked ok i guess.
Will pick up some midi cables soon tough.

    Thanks alot man :bow::bow:

Yes I was a little bit inaccurate midi keyboards mostly connect through USB so does mine. If it's the SE Electronics sE2200a II it needs phantom power. Are you sure you have set your audio interface to 48V phantom power?

You made the right choice even though you don't have the Wifi version it's the same board.

Ahh Good to know ty for link
It didnt matter if i turned on 48V. I tested my same interface and mic on a different system and it worked fine. So it had to be my former faulty system that prevented it from working

Thanks to everyone who commented and helped me. I have looked thoroughly into each reply and let me summarise.

I have no interest in having a Hackintosh at all. Having this aside I am listing my current ''old'' build to see what I can utilise/sell/bin.

System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
    System Model: GA-770T-USB3
    Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
    Memory: 12288MB RAM
    Available OS Memory: 12286MB RAM
Samsung SSD 850 Evo 500GB ATA Device
    NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450
    CX750 corsair

    I liked those two builds:

    https://pcpartpicker.com/list/H2TGYT

    and this

    Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X $139.99
    Intel Core i9-9900K $540
    Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler $90
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz $140 (on sale)
    MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 GAMING X 2G $135
    Samsung 860 EVO 500GB $100
GIGABYTE GC-Titan Ridge thunderbolt 3 card $99 (Supported by PCIe x4 slot only)
    Corsair RMi Series, RM650i $129.99
Corsair Carbide Series 330R Mid-Tower case $95 (quiet pc is important)

What I have agreed to and will go ahead with I guess (I need help in picking the rest please):
    - Intel Core i9-9900K
    - 4x 16GB Ram (don't know which one is better)
    - I think I have the SSD already sorted with my current build
    - Power supply maybe I can utilise what I have to if it holds (I will leave it to your expertise)
I need firewire for my Focusrite Audio card

Yes, I will be doing some video editing but I won't be rendering 3d animation so a decent one but not for 1000 pounds and certainly no gaming as PS4 is sitting next to me.

Thank you so much everyone. I really value your expertise and help.

Any reason you need 64GB of Ram? Only needed if you gonna work with After Effects and stuff like that.

okay, 32GB is more than enough. I have 32GB and have not been even close on using all when making music.

Legit and for 1000 euro too. Based on other builds this looks like it could work for Mac one also.
